I really don't want this to be a bashing thread about this kid (not my intention)...

Here is the problem, the Defensive Line is abysmal, wretched, ghastly... you get the point and really, the ONE GUY who could be great and influential is Chick. The problem is just how freakin' slow he jumps the snap! I kind of noticed late in the 2nd quarter and through the 2nd half it seemed to be more obvious!

Chick is not an elite DE, I think most could agree about that, he is slower than most, and does not have great technique, BUT... he is a high motor, high energy never give up kid who if he would at the very least turn his head to watch the snap and get that (literally) 1/2 to 1 full second lead that he loses every time, he would at least (maybe) provide more pressure OR give himself a chance to cause some pressure.

Again, I can see the effort, but that is one small detail that can probably affect his play tremendously! Hope the coaches or he watches some film and corrects that sooner than later.

Sorry for the rant!

He's the kind of player that would be very effective as the second best DE on a team with solid DTs. With Shayon Green on the other side and the worst tackles in UM history in the middle, forget it.

Gained to much weight too fast which slowed him down. Never assumed him to be an elite pass rusher but the weight gain has slowed him down just a bit.

I've always wondered if he was better off as an OLB in a 3-4. Would allow him to drop a few lbs.

Chick is a good player with fast motor. He's not an elite pass rusher, but he's still young. If the whole DL was as good as Chick, then the team would be much better

no way in **** could he play OLB

too slow for a DE already let alone LB

if we had good depth chick wouldnt even be a starter right now...yes he would have been in rotation as a second string but not a starter... his best days are ahead of him still... he will be an elite player... jus wait till we get pressure up the middle... chick has shown some flashes... watch him play in his JR and SR year... str8 beast!

+1. It really does him a disservice to be playing right now... On a top 15 team, he would of redshirted and been giving enough time to adjust to the weight he gained. At UM, he's expected to be the best DL by the end of his freshman year. Chick isnt a edge rusher, but he can be a great DE. We're just going to have to live with the growing pains...

Chick isn't the problem, but he doesn't have the talent to carry the whole unit. We need someone else to step up on the d line in a major way.

The truth is that Chick has out grown the D End position. I think he moves over to DT. He would be the perfect 3 technique DT. He is close to 280 now so adding 10 lbs is nothing

Is he injured? He doesn't play nearly as fast as he did last year? The proper weight gain, which I think he has, should not have slowed him down as much as it appears to.

He is a true sophomore on an inexperienced and crappy DLine.

These kids need time and Darrius Smith is a ******* bum.

280? he came in last year at like 245 and is listed at 265. even if hes a little bigger than 265, its closer to 270. no way hes even close to 280

He neds to bulk up to DT

Too slow for DE runs in quicksand

He'd be great with a solid DL around him. He's not a game changer like Lawrence Taylor, but could be a solid DE with some help. Also, to become a good DT, he'd need to put on 50-60 pounds (at least), which isn't happening, since he worked hard to put on 15-20 for this season and he's still small.

Chick is like 275lbs now. **** look at him if you don't believe me.

He is a 6-8 sack guy right with this line, if he played for FSU he would be a 9-12plus sack guy.
