I think it's absolutely insane the workload he has handled the last few years.

He should be beginning his redshirt sophomore year, just starting to play meaningful snaps. Instead, this season's opener he played the FEWEST SNAPS HE'S EVER PLAYED IN A GAME WHILE AT MIAMI due to the depth we now have that we've been lacking. That's crazy.

Props to him for handling it.

Is it just me or does this entire post contradict itself??

Not when considering that he played as a true frosh and basically started.

But when considering that he played 71 reps vs UF, yeah then it does because the next closest player was in the 40s.

Some of it is the depth we now have and the Florida snap count can be explained when you understand that a lot of what we do is matchup driven. Chick might have caught a lot of snaps against UF, but will probably see less against teams like Duke, UNC, and USF who spend more time in shotgun as putting the ball in the air.

Golden said chick played that many snaps because he felt Kamalu and Hamilton weren't ready to be in the rotation that game and chick was obviously up to the challenge.

I saw some NFL defensive breakdowns and no one was above 60 or so plays. Didn't see one name in the 70's.

Chick has been impressive. Don't remember if it was Able or JHall who compared Chick to Justin Smith, but it makes sense.

Could have been both. Its not a well received comparison because most only know Smith as the dominant DL he has been in his 30's. Even as a Bengal no one knew how good he was.

Chicks strength on the field is noticeable and he is just getting going. He isn't flashy but he can be disruptive and if he keeps getting stronger, he can be dominant. Chick has huge upside in the NFL because of what teams need these days.

Chick was awesome in the UF game. Finally has the size and strength to play the position. His ability to set the edge and free up the LBs was huge in game. He wont get huge numbers but there is no denying his importance to this defense.
