CHATFIELD

Looks like we’ve found our Mike Harley recruit for the 2018 class. Kid will be a emotional leader with this journey to the place he’s always wanted to be. A leader has been born gentlemen.

Did he really say that we probably realized we could make a move for Chatfield after the Gaytes fired McSharkfukker??? Smh... Gaytor Logics

Did that dude say we can catch those hands? I’m 135 ponds soaking wet but I roll with the blue lot boys and The Franchise Cane Dynasty and dfagundo. Hard work and perseverance pays off. Now, don't be too prideful and sit around fcking around with this offer, son. Jump on it, and start building bridges.

I think those fans who think this is just about the coaches recognizing they made a mistake are wrong. This is a numbers decision. We need bodies at de, so a borderline kid will get the benefit of the doubt.

This offer tells me that the Patchan to TE move is more permanent than it might seem. Without Patchan, we are only throwing out Jackson, Jackson, Garvin, and Johnson at DE. We need to find at least 3 more for depth. Rousseau is one. Chat field will be the second. The third will either be another recruit or a kid like tyreic moving back down to DE - the knock on him has always been his strength in the middle, so a move outside could benefit him. Plus he's only 10 pounds heavier than chad Thomas.

Kul has shown a strong willingness to Change up his personnel to meet his needs.

Shut your dumb *** up. Eat dust...Like Patchan is the basis for any decision on this team. You were one of the earlier clowns sh*tting on Chatfield

Why the nasty insults? Jesus. I never once crapped on chat field. Kid was and always has been a borderline prospect. I'm not upset at all about that, I think we'll need him to be a serviceable rotation guy even as early as next year if we get hit with injuries.

But the timing of all this is suspect. Patchan gets moved midseason and actually plays real minutes against Unc. Recently several DEs have been offered including Chatfield. I'm not a brain surgeon but logic tells us that perhaps there could be a connection here.

I think you are reaching too much. The decision to offer Chat had absolutely nothing to do with their plans for Patchan.

My guess is that the staff has always seen something in Chatfield. His talent and motor are undeniable. I think they were trying to figure out how to integrate him into their scheme. He’s not a traditional DE like CT9, but he’s not your prototypical LB like Shaq, either. We know that Kul prefers certain size / body types so it probably took him some time to agree that a Toolbox 2.0 is an asset.

So thankfully, the staff smartened up and decided that he is a take for us. Very wise decision in my opinion.

It's nice to see everyone is on the same page with this offer, but time glue guy who is going to be making plays for us.

thats exactly how i saw it the whole time. He's give a take an inch shorter and 5-10 pounds lighter RIGHT NOW...than Tool Box was coming in. I believe tool box came in at about 6'2 1/2 230-235. He will come in with the same type of game...kid also works out in the off season with real trainers. Think they can play him at any spot they choose. See him and Nesta being a nasty tandem moving forward. These dends with Garvin, Jackson, Johnson looks real good with adding what were adding this class.

FWIW, tiger droppings interviewed Surtain on 10/31 and asked him which other players he'd like to play with in college - he said chatfield and campbell.

and to think there were guys here defending Rousseau over Chatfield... yikes

Why on earth are you bashing Rousseau?

He's a great prospect who is having a really good season, especially with it being his first full year at DE.

Both Chatfield and Rousseau are excellent players who bring something different to the position. Seriously, the fvck is wrong with you?

My apologies, I forgot you can't have dissenting opinions when it comes to recruiting. Nor have a preference of one high school player to another.

Rosseau has actually had an impressive season. Check his film out this year

Kid should know that Canes fans wanted and are excited he's got an offer. Kid is all results on the field. Hope he commits soon.

I see he tagged Manny in his post and not coach Kool. Any chance they are bringing him in as linebacker prospect? Or does his body type/style of play fit solely as a down linemen ? Thanks

IMO, as has been mentioned in this thread, he fits a similar roll of what Trent plays for us now. Mainly a pass rusher. Chat is definitely more talented than Trent was as a prospect. The only question is does he have Trent's motor and work ethic. If he does he can be a **** good player in this scheme.

I actually compared him to Trent when I first saw film.

Is there a reason why some don't like him at LB? From the little I've seen him on tape it looks like he can play either position, (LB or DE). I guess I'm missing something, he looks fast enough to play either.
