The personnel on the D is changing, with more athletic players and hopefully a more complete set of Dlinemen.
Given the Golden will not fire his friend, what is the likelihood that they will change to a more aggressive scheme and abandon the Temple D we have been running?

I just don't see it. We haven't shown any indications that Golden and D'O are willing to make adjustments to their scheme.

I remember reading an interview with Nigel Bethel and when he questioned them about the scheme they said they would be more aggressive when they got the depth and talent they needed. TIFWIW

I cannot fathom that Onfrio will be on the sideline on opening day.

I'll be openly rooting for losses if that comes to fruition

They have been running the same D for year, back since Temple. Not gonna change.

Been saying this all year.

If we get valentine, Thomas, and wyche we'll be fine. Our problem has been consistent pressure on the quarterback. We have a bunch of rejects on our line this past year and it showed. Some adjustments obviously need to be made in terms of different blitz packages but just the talent should help significantly I believe

He tried to do it in the bowl game and looked like a rookie DC. He called some very creative blitzes but only in textbook blitz situations. Louisville's OC was a full step ahead of dorito. Note how many screens you saw into blitzes in that bowl game. I can think of 4, all of which went for big yards.

Im also concerned that the first time I saw dorito do anything different than he did in the UF game was the UVA game. That told me something about both GOlden and dorito. Why wait to break tendencies in a useless game like UVA?? You should be breaking tendencies in games like FSU, Va Tech and Duke). To me, that was a reactionary responses by Golden and/or dorito to the wave of negativity coming from the fans and online media, as opposed to strategic moves that a coach would typically do throughout the season.

D was good for about the first half during the bowl game. The offense not doing squat is what wore them down.

In case you guys haven't noticed, Golden and Dorito are incapable of coaching a competent defense that doesn't involve their scheme. They are a one trick pony that are only comfortable with their philosophy. Wait 5 years when most of the players are seniors. Then you will see the fruit of their mediocre labor.

Lmfao. Yeah, the problem has only been the pass rush.

Need to first go back to a traditional 4/3. The hybrid they run is a disaster. You need freaks of nature on the DL and at LB to be successful. Funny how we were all excited about playing some 3/4.

IMO, it's all about scheme. I though the defense looked far more prepared than our offense against Louisville. That brings up another question, can Coley call plays at this level? As much as he needed to shore up recruiting, hiring Coley looks like a mistake to me. Bring in stud recruiters as your position coaches, your Coordinators need to be super. This is especially true at OC, when your HC is a defensive guy.

We saw those fruits the 1st half of the bowl game. Also G&D run a 4-3 under on 3rd down, same 4-3 under Butch and Jimmy ran( although I have no clue whats going on in the secondary). I am disappointed too about the performance the last 3 years but I see hope with the 1st half performance in the bowl game and the incoming recruiting class.

About the same as it is for a male boar hog growing ****.

With Jimmy we were in 4-3 over like Michigan State, when Butch came back from the cowboys we shifted more to the Under. Now a days we run a lot of cover 3 and cover 4. I don't know how much pattern matching we do but I know we do some from the interviews after one of the losses where the players were saying they were cutting someone loose and nobody picked them up
