Miami Hurricanes cornerback Jaden Davis shed light on Georgia Tech's formidable offense, the power of the ACC conference, Miami's new black uniforms, and the progression of the team after their bye.
Davis acknowledged the strength of Georgia Tech's offense, which is averaging 32 PPG. He commented, "Georgia Tech has one of the top 20 passing offenses in the country. From watching them on film, what stands out is speed all over the field. They have guys from number 13 to 8, 6, 12 that give a lot of gas. They're a very powerful offense with a quarterback that can make every throw and is mobile out of the pocket. Their running back, number 11, is impressive, and he can make you miss any time." He also emphasized respect for their offense, calling it "one of the better offenses we've played the whole season."
Switching the discussion to the ACC, he expressed excitement about his first game in the conference after previously playing in the Big 12. Davis noted, "The history of this conference is amazing. From University of Miami, Florida State to Clemson, this conference has a legacy. It's well balanced in speed, athleticism, and aggressiveness, especially with most of the teams being in the southeast.”
Davis also shared his thoughts on the Miami Nights all-black uniforms they'll be wearing for the next game. "It's a nice change up from the usual colors. But, the key thing is, we need to perform in those uniforms. It's not about how they look, but how we play when we wear them." He mentioned Oklahoma's once-a-year alternative jersey tradition, drawing parallels to the University of Miami's adherence to tradition.
Commenting on the progression of the team post the bye, Davis seemed optimistic. "The bye allowed us to self-scout, and it was a boon for players who usually don't get as many reps during regular weeks. For instance, Jaden Harris had to step up, and the bye provided an opportunity to see his growth."
In response to Georgia Tech's unexpected loss to Bowling Green, Davis was assertive: "That's a really good Georgia Tech team from what I've seen on tape. Everyone outside can have their own opinions, but from us on the inside, we respect this team a lot. Their loss to Bowling Green doesn't define them."
