This is one of the most stable unity on the defense. The additions made in the 2013 recruiting class have put this team in a position, that after this season a true freshman will not have to play again. Not having Finnie will sting a little because this unit is still very young, but the experience of Gunter, Crawford, & Howard will help. In the end I think these guys will become a strength of this defense. I think Burns will make it very hard to keep him off the field. He is such a gifted athlete that he will push for playing time from day one.

Numbers (This is in order by class not what I think the depth chart will be)
LCB
1. RJR Ladarius Gunter
2. SO Tracy Howard
3. RFR Larry Hope
4. FR Ray Lewis III (The staff will try him at CB and S. I think he will be best at S)

RCB
1. SO Antonio Crawford
2. RFR Nate Dortch
3. FR Artie Burns

We will not lose anyone from this position to graduation. I think the staff needs to bring in 2-3 guys to solidify the numbers at this position. The future really looks bright at CB

That's a good looking young group. I expect Crawford to really step up this year. I love that kids game.

I totally agree, Crawford could be the best pure CB on this roster. In 2014 we could be looking at the best CB unit in the nation!!!

I think these guys can be really good, but best in the nation is a bit much right now. Love the enthusiasm tho.

dortch looks like he can be really good, crawford to. and howard looks like he can still get better but is really good still. artie pure speed and talent 1st round talent if developed. and gunter looks improved also and an nfl talent. hope looked improved also. best defensive backfield in the nation is a possibiliy if not this year next year forsure

Dortch is the under-the-radar guy in this group. With his size and a strong year, Gunter could be tempted by the NFL. That would actually be a good thing.

Gotta have the pass rush if we want these guys to be an elite group. Not even the best secondary would have stood much if a chance last year.

Burns and Coley are two guys I can't wait to get on campus. Both will be joining heavy competition but both are capable of rocketing up the chart.

We're better off now than we were a year ago. McGee and Finnie were the only guys with any experience going into last season. Gunter, Howard, and Crawford all played a lot. Hope has been here for over a year. Dortch got abused in the spring game but at least he's black. Artie Burns to the rescue.

You guys thnk Tracy will break out this season?

CB is a position where we tend to see guys flourish once they've been able to acclimate themselves to the college game. Gunter, Howard, and Crawford could be special if Dorito/Golden allow them to do more than give WRs a 35 yard pre-snap cushion and then backpedal out of the stadium and onto the turnpike when the ball is snapped.

i like the 2014 class for CBs so i hope we can get as may players looks by the NFL and actually help by signing day

Stupid question but is there any difference between playing right or left CB? I know it is a big deal other places

Somebody was *****ing to high heaven about our CB depth during 'crootin season.

I never knew what the **** that was all about. Think it's miles better now than just two years ago.
