The Hurricanes are pushing hard for Miami Norland DB Carlton Davis to flip from his Ohio State commitment.
UM sent four coaches to his high school late last week - Hurlie Brown, Paul Williams, Tim Harris and Mark D'Onofrio.
And that was followed up by a phone conversation with Al Golden.
The coaches have set up Davis' official visit to Miami for this coming weekend.
"I set that up when the coaches were here," Davis said. "The coaches came to the school, were with me an hour or two. They were just talking recruiting with me, said I can play early there at cornerback.
"And coach Golden, he said on the phone that they like me a lot and he wants me to come in and play, that they need me."
So does Miami have a chance to flip him?
"A little bit," Davis said. "I'm not sure yet, I have to see what I see on my visit."
He says the official will be UM's make or break opportunity, and also says he's getting some pressure from friends and family to stay close to home.
"Yeah, a little bit," Davis said. "My family, some of them say they want me to stay home, they want to see me play. I just say I'm going to do the best thing for me and hope they understand."
Davis has already taken his official visit to Ohio State and will visit Arkansas the weekend of Jan.16.
"I also will maybe go to Florida and maybe to Texas," Davis said.
He says he's "very strong" with Ohio State right now "because I love the program."
