We'll have a definitive answer on Al Golden, one way or another. I am honestly right in the middle and feel both sides have great arguments:

Pro Goldens- Randy left us with NOTHING, an absolutely putred roster. If you look at the recruiting classes that people have posted it is mind boggling. The talent level is terrible. There are holes and depth issues at every position on the field. On a positive note, Al has brought in some difference makers including Eddie Johnson, Deon Bush, and Duke Johnson. We have a frustrating offense, but also an offense that is explosive at times like we haven't seen in quite some time. To me, its the best offense since the 2002.

Anti Goldens- Yeah, we had some horrible recruiting classes, but were they so bad that our defense would be ranked 118th in the nation? Thats just too hard to believe. If the defense simply struggled, it would be understandable. But they are doing so much worse than just struggling. Teams move the ball at will. Notre Dame, with a terrible offense, ran the ball down our throats. We knew they were going to run, and they would break off 20 yard runs. Virginia, an awful team, scored 41 on us. Like Whatthehell posted the other day, teams are averaging 3 punts a game versus Miami-THREE!!!!! This team is young, but not that **** young. And they are experienced at this point-the sophomores have played almost two full seasons in this system, the freshman almost a full season. Its game 10 and we have guys not knowing where dey s'posed to be on the field before a play comes in. Everyone agrees the talent ain't there, but shouldn't a great coach be able to coach these guys up? Throw in there the fact that this is the worst the ACC has been....ever, and its shocking that we are 5-5 right now.

Like I said, there are great arguments on both sides, but the answer will not come for me until next year. We'll have a senior quarterback, a top 5 athlete in the nation at running back, a deep, talented WR group and a good offensive line. That offense should average 40 points a game next year. We'll have a difference makers at the linebacker and safety positions-I'm talking NFL caliber players. Our Dline will be a year older, and some question marks at CB.

If this team does not win the ACC next year, all fingers should point to coaching.

I'll go ahead and give you the answer:

there is no way that the defense will be very good. they will have some good games but then there will be 3-4 like UVA, BC, ND, etc that are just mind boggling

that is a coaching problem. Dorito is lost

I am in the middle too. I am giving him a pass this year but next year I will be strongly critiquing everything.

The best thing Al can do is have a tremendous recruiting class, win the final two games and a big time off season. Oh and the Sanctions, that could have some effect but let's not dwell on the unknown.

We have a lot returning, should be interesting. Not ready to close the book on this year yet, but next year will be an interesting year.

Our defensive scheme and philosophy needs to change. we can't keep doing the same thing and expect a different result. We also have an offensive strategy that directly effects our defense. We pass too much on an uptempo pace. When you have an erradatic passer like Morris and stone hands receivers like Dorsett/Scott....not a good mix. What does that get you? 3 and out in like 30 seconds and our poor defense has to go back on the field for another long 80 yard drive by our opponent.

We are a disaster.

Obviously our Saturday results leave a lot to be desired.

In between those days I think Golden has done a fantastic job as far as handling the looming sanctions, recruiting, and keeping our heads above water in some tough times.

It may not be right but I guess between that and the team that he inherited are the reasons I have cut him more slack than some to this point. Big picture he may be saving this program. I don't even want to think what would be happening if someone else had been hired (realistically).

Because of all that I pretty much decided this season would be a watch and wait one. Try to enjoy some big wins but mainly just wait till the end of the season to see how our future is going to look. Its definitely not the answer people want but its going to take time.

The way I see it, this year is over, Iid like to see us win out simply so I can say we improved one game from last year and so we get momentum for next year...but besides that it's over, take the ban for sure, sorry seniors, especially mike James and McGee but this program needs to get that NCAA **** out of the way ASAP, you made some great points Harry that I've been trying to get across the whole time, this is a very young team on both sides of the ball so it's kinda hard to criticize golden on that, the only thing I can say is that regardless of how young we are, we should ABSOLUTELY not be second to last worst defense in the nation, but besides that what can you say, we are a baby team....next year, however, I will absolutely not defend golden or any of his coaches, it will be his 3rd year and were returning like 80 percent of our starters...win out Al, and you get a pass for me, but next year I will have extremely high expectations, another 6 or 7 loss team and golden and/or his staff have to go

Over with the exception that we can still play in the ACCCG and likely will. I know there is about a 10% chance we win that game, but there is still a chance. I'd like to see us play in the Chik-fil-a bowl...great exposure and additional practice time would be very nice.

I've been saying that since 2004.

Strong post. I feel the same way; essentially I see flaws that need to be addressed one way or the other, but am not ready to say that Golden is not the man to do it. In fact, I would say at this point I am more happy with him than not, but only slightly. There are the cracks in the foundation, can he fill those cracks before the whole thing comes tumbling down (even if the foundation had to be fixed to begin with).

Have not seen one projection of us in a bowl as high as the Chik-fil-a Bowl.

The problem is not with Golden, i think he is.ready.to lead this team and get.it done. I.dont think his buddie Dorito was ready to step into this situation with his level of coaching ability. I really hope Golden can see this as well.

/We all know Doritos is here and will be here
