If you haven’t listened to todays podcast it’s a must listen. @DMoney and @Peter Ariz were spot on. Our fans need to understand, based on how the transfer portal is set up. Transfer portal QBs are the name of the game. Most of the 2023 qbs have transferred. 3/4 qbs in the playoff semifinals are transfers. Fans need to understand that it’s adapt or die. Coaches don’t have time to wait and develop anymore. If I’m Miami I’m using a transfer for the next 2 seasons then going with Luke going into his redshirt Sophomore season if he shows to coaches he’s ready.

you had me until the last sentence

it's not that "Coaches don't have time to wait and develop anymore" - it's because qb's dont want to wait and be developed anymore

nickel, emory, and Judd would all be long gone and in the portal well before nickel is a redshirt sophomore

you either go the portal and get a proven commodity (hopefully 2-3 years remaining), a 1 year rental, or you start a project / true freshman

I agree with you on the qbs not waiting but coaches aren’t waiting too.

Did Joy Taylor start yet? Is our QB1 signed?

Because if neither, I’m not sure the majority of the board is running to listen to Transfer Portal 101 when a large percentage of the place have understood it for 3-4 seasons.

There may be a few still holding on to their laughingly incorrect notion that the only way to build a roster is through high school because Butch did it that way.

based on how things are going, we will be lucky to even get a 1 year bridge to Nickel at this point

unless we sign Beck (possible) or Ewers (unlikely), I dont see a name available that would guarentee that we don't see Nickel as soon as this upcoming season either.

If we ride with Luke we won’t go bowling

I don't think the fans are complaining about going to the portal for a QB. We're frustrated about how the lack of having a QB in place in time hurts with getting other guys on board. Mario preaches that players need to play with a sense of urgency and I think he should apply those same standards to recruiting a QB and having a successor lined up

Should be obvious. If have a chance to upgrade the most important position you should do that in 2025. As long as this is how gonna be we have too.

You guys kill me with this.

"Coaches don’t have time to wait and develop anymore."

The only QB we signed in 2023 was Judd, who'll take YEARS to develop.

"Luke going into his redshirt Sophomore season if he shows to coaches he’s ready."

That will be his THIRD year on campus.

All this thread does is reignite the "don't pay for a high school QBs" debate. Every time this argument pops up, it contradicts itself.

You guys: "don't pay for a high school QB! Anyone who disagrees is stupid."
Also you guys: "Why do all our QBs suck?"
Still you guys: "We got a good high school QB in Nickel" (pretends he was free).
Full circle: "don't pay for a high school QB! Anyone who disagrees is stupid."

And I already know which poster is going to disagree. The same know it all dip****, who has never coached, worked around a program, or played and thinks that just because HE hasn't heard something it can't possibly be true. I wonder who it is.

Just about every playoff team has a transfer QB same as last year. I think you get a stop bridge QB see how luke nickel is during the season if he looks like he has the goods roll with him in 26 if not transfer QB again.

We also need to bring in two HS QBs in the next class. I like the Coleman kid but we need to start grabbing more arms.

They do good work together and having a podcast with info from them is a major upgrade to the CIS Experience.
