Oregon will be a great place to get portal QBs from in the next couple of years. 4&5 star this year. Moore in portal last year and Moga (HS). 4star the year before too

Those guys didn’t feel like they knew more or were better coaches than Saban. I can’t see Mullen, Sark, Daboll working under Mario
Agreed. They saw it as a challenge and as a way back to another chance at a big time school. Those guys were usually desparate but Saban let them cook.

He got Lane, Sark and others (even Mario). Even if it’s only for a little while, you knew you’d get good results.

They are not going to lose whichever of them is the best though. The good thing is it could take them out of portal qb running this year….

I think for Mario to reach the heights we want, he might want to take a page out of Saban’s coaching playbook.
Saban oftentimes brought on ex-head coaches and let them cook. He was on them for results too. Saban was secure in himself though that he didn’t force his way onto the coordinators. Is Mario secure in himself to bring in guys like Mullen and Muschamp and let them run the show? I can’t help but think Mario has influenced Dawson’s playcalling/scheme to incoporate Mario’s prefefrences. But you bring in guys like Mullen/Muschamp, you won’t get that level of say in.

I only say this because we may have an opening at DC and/or OC (if Dawson gets a HC job). The opportuntiy will be there to reset the types of coordinators we will look for. And the right coordinator can do some serious damage, even without top 5 talent.

There is no question the only way Mario can ever have true success is to surround himself with elite x's and o's minds and step out of the way. Whether former HC's or proven coordinators, unfortunately for us, unless they are in desperate situations like a Scott Frost or Art Briles, those other coaches won't work for Mario.

Mario does not have a good repuation as a "boss" in the college football world. A lot of folks in his space don't respect him as a "coach", and when you factor in how demanding he is of his staff and some of the favoritism he shows, guys who have legit options find it hard to work for him.

There are levels to this game and we are still not on the top one. And never have been. Completely different games being played. Our best chance is bringing in strong high school classes with high end portal classes. We have to get top 5 in one or the other every year

Thanks. Much obliged. I see we're doing the 5-star whiff challenge. Nailing it!

Or that Lanning boy is gooooood and undefeatttttted. Ranked # oooooooooone.

/probably a combo
We finished 10-2 and lost a recruit to Florida.

It's clear Oregon are dropping MONSTER bags right now. It's not my money and there's no Salary Cap so good luck to them (I hope it all comes crashing down 'cos **** Oregon).
