The defense was on display yet again, as The Miami Hurricanes (7-1) won their 6th game in a row against a decent opponent in UCF (6-3) in Orlando on Tuesday night. It was a game of spurts as the Canes attacked from the tip, Larkin was all over the place looking like a future NBA point guard. Distributing the ball, attacking loose balls, hitting clutch shots, this kid has it all and had another great performance on Tuesday Night. It was never even close. UCF cut it to a 9 point game with about 10 minutes to go in the 2nd half before the Canes took their foot off the break, moved to the left lane, and hammered it home.
TOP PERFORMERS - MIAMI
Durand Scott led the way again with 17 points to go with 2 rebounds and 2 assists. He played great Defense and absolutely took over for a couple of minutes in the 2nd half.
Reggie Johnson got big last night folks. He was diving for looseballs up 20 with 2 minutes left to go in the game. Coach L has these guys believing! Reggie had his 4th double double of the year as he had 16 points including a 3 pointer and 13 rebounds.
Shane Larkin had 11 points with 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
OFF THE BENCH
Ladies and Gentlemen, Erik Swoope hit a three pointer last night. Wait, what? LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, ERIK SWOOPE HIT A THREE POINTER LAST NIGHT.
Swoope had 3 points and block, Jakiri had 3 and Rion Brown chipped in 6.
TOP PERFORMERS - UCF
Keith Clanton continued his impressive year with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. He also had 5 turnovers and struggled against Big Reggie consistently. Isiah Sykes and Kacey Wilson both had 9.
Up next for the Canes is flying out to Hawaii to take place in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic tournament. Hawaii will host the canes on the 23rd at 1230AM est. Hawaii is 5-3 on the season. If the Canes continue to play like that have in the past 5 games, this should be a walk for the Canes.
