OT Kavion Broussard from Zachary High School in Louisiana becomes the Miami Hurricanes’ 21st commitment of the recruiting class for 2024, moving them to the 15th ranked class in the country according to 247sports.
Offered a scholarship in January, Broussard's undeniable talent has led him to be pursued by some of the most prominent college football programs. Miami outpaced competition from Florida State, Missouri, Texas Tech, Mississippi State, and Cincinnati, proving that he's a diamond in the rough at a position which relies heavily on traits.
Although he officially visited both Missouri and Texas Tech, he also had an official visit (lslated with Florida State during their clash against Miami. However, that has now been canceled.
For those who've followed Broussard since his junior year, his transformation has been impressive. Playing at 245 pounds during his junior year, he now weighs in at a hefty 280 pounds. The July measurements solidified his towering presence, standing at 6’6” and weighing 276 pounds. Experts believe with his "big time feet" and frame, he has the potential to further bulk up to 320 pounds, making him a prospect with high potential at the position.
Sources inside Miami’s staff have drawn parallels between him and Matt McCoy, praising both their athletic frames and the vast upside they bring to the table. Broussard's natural athleticism hasn't gone unnoticed, making him a sought-after prospect in the recruiting circuit.
His recruiting process faced a hiccup due to a shoulder surgery, which prevented him from practicing in the spring or participating in summer camps. But, having been fully cleared to play, insiders believe that by the end of his senior year, he'll be the most sought-after riser on the offensive line board countrywide.
Alex Mirabal, Dennis Smith, and Ed Pata – have been the driving force behind Broussard's recruitment. Their belief in Broussard's frame, athleticism, character, and intangibles sealed the deal, making him a "no brainer" recruit.
