2016 Christopher Columbus (Fla.) defensive end Joshua Uche has been committed to Miami since March and has been one recruit many people have heard from a lot via interviews and other social media. Uche is excited for a big season from himself, from his high school team, and his future college.
"This first week of camp has been great. We've got great leaders on the team and we've had guys step up ready to make an impact," said Uche.
The 6-foot-2, 212-pounder who has been clocked in running a 4.59 40-yard dash said he does not have many personal goals and will try to remain focused on the team this year.
"I just want our team to have success as a unit and things will go smoothly for us." said Uche.
Uche was a key member of the Explorers' state runner-up team last year and will be the leader for their vaunted defense this year as they try to make it back to Orlando for a second straight year.
"I'm telling these young guys that they need to be self-motivated and they shouldn't need a coach to tell them they need to work. Every rep, every play they should be giving it their all."
Uche was offered by Florida and Alabama this past month and it's clear those offers have given him something to think about.
When asked if he was still 100% committed to the 'Canes, Uche responded with, "more or less (laughs)."
Uche plans to officially visit Miami and other schools but does not have any set in stone yet.
