With an impressive win over Duke, can Miami finish the season ranked in one of the polls?

Ranked teams lost on Thursday or Friday(depending on which poll you look at): Nebraska, Houston, Texas A&M, Washington State, Boise State, North Carolina.

If #9 Colorado beat #22 Utah, another top 25 team at the bottom of the ranking will loose.

I see LSU & Va Tech moving back into the top 25 in all of the polls. LSU is a 7-4 team that didn't play 12 games like everyone else. If Miami beat Duke and go to 8-4, should they be ranked in the top 25? What do y'all think about the Hurricane chances?

Maybe not the regular season poll but I assume going 9-4 after the bowl game will put the Canes in the final poll.

If we beat duke convincingly and beat an 8-4, or better, sec team in the belk or taxslayer then I think its a lock that well make an appearance on the end of season rankings

I love the Miami Hurricanes more than anything in this world ... I have a broken hand right now because I punched a wall after the Notre Dame game .. I am very embarrassed reading a thread that we are "hopeful to be in the top 25"

Be careful and don't break the other one or there will be no way to wipe your ****.

After yesterday, I say yea beat duke and your in. Point is to also win your bowl game though, need to go into NSD with hope.

This thread contains the most logical posts of any thread I've seen in a while here. Right on Fellas. Finish 9-4 by beating a big name team in the a bowl and it's likely we finished ranked.

IMO, it's the nuances of the season that get blown out of proportion. We were never as good as some were suggesting after starting 4-0, nor as bad as some were suggesting when we lost the next 4 in October.

I think the team can, and will, finish 9-4, and will be ranked in the top 25.

Anybody knocking that as a 1st season with an ENTIRELY new staff didn't have realistic expectations, IMO.

Tell me grasshopper, why did you punch a wall that had nothing to do with Miami losing to Notre Dame?

A few years ago we definitely would've been ranked. Now, it's cool to rank 2 loss MWC and C-USA teams above power 5 programs. One loss Troy got ranked after squeaking by App State.

Agreed.

I think the momentum of a 5 game winning streak and a bowl win is more important than a top 25 ranking but it's likely the two go hand in hand. Beat Duke, win a bowl game, finish somewhere in the top 20. All good omens heading into the offseason. Shows an upward trend. A real upward trend, not like Golden's fake improvements where the team couldn't win a bowl game.

I might be bias, but other 8-4 teams that are currently rank have lost 2 of their last four games. This is the first time we have won our last 4 games since 2002.

I think we will be ranked at #19 today. We need this for the big recruiting period that starts today (27 Nov).

A Beatdown of the Taint in a Bowl Game, a Monster NSD, and a great Spring Practice plus another Paradise Camp next summer?

I wouldn't be surprised if we're ranked going in to the season.
