My son is a freshman is high school who is playing football. He just finished his JV season and was invited to the varsity team. He is a huge UM fan and I would like to send him to a camp at Miami. Does anyone know details of any future camps and any specifics for positions etc? I know he mentioned a teammate wearing an Al Golden camp t-shirt so that is the one I'm sure he would like.

Also, is there any other camp that we should look at? We are in North Florida and he plays QB.

Thanks in advance for any information.

All the best to you and your son. Hope he succeeds for his sake and ours!
God bless[/QUOTE]

Thanks again to everyone for the info.

Able, living in the land of Gators, with a few Noles and Dawgs it could have been easy for my kid to jump ship to a more successful team, but he has never wavered in his loyalty to UM (seems like the majority of his wardrobe growing up has been orange and green...lol). Now that he is in High School we are talking to him more about college. He says his dream is to be a Hurricane. He is a good student, kid and athlete so I hope some way we (or he) can make it happen for him.

You should get him involved in fbu if possible. Nike and Under Armour has camps in the beginning of the year. I would also look for hs 7 on 7 teams in your area.

Manning passing academy is July 11-14.

Thank you. He played for team Jacksonville last year in FBU as an 8th grader. I did not think they did anything past that age group?? His coach has asked him to play in a 4 on 4 tournament, but I will look up 7 on 7 information. I will also check into Nike and Under Armour. I know he wants to go to a UM run camp, and I was hoping to be able to sign him up as a christmas present. I think it would be a great experience for him to spend a few days down there.

To the DT questions... lol, all the steak in the world would not make him a DT.

yea let him come down or oyu guys come down for a full week.....theres a qb guru type guy down here i think his name is Mastrole...look for Mastrole Passing Camp or something. Then there is the Nike Camp down here and Under Armour you can check their sites for dates...getting your son ..a qb in camps is KEY for recruitment.

**** s.fla is producing some pretty good qbs...should think of getting out of duval for a year or two..lol

Thanks, I will look up the camp and see if we can get him down there. Yeah, s.fla is pumping out some great QB's as we see on Saturdays. To bad they have left s.fla. We are in St. Johns county. Great schools!

Is he a mobile or pocket passer?

He played QB in flag for years so he is comfortable rolling out. Last season (middle school team) he was a pocket passer, but I think he is a better mobile QB. The high school team runs more of a QB option spread so he ran quite a bit this year in JV. If I had to guess we threw about 17 TD's with 0 picks and ran about 5 TD's in seven game, although we were more of a running team with a lot of QB option running. The team runs a lot of outs and slants but he can go down field with the ball as well. He has been successful creating plays when the D is on him which helped keep drives alive. This is only his second year playing QB in pads, but he did very well. He is now running scout for the varsity team with the varsity back up, so I hope it helps him in the starter competition next year since the current QB will graduate.

Overall he has a strong arm, very good velocity, and is smart with his decisions, but he needs to grow. As of now Drew Brees is his idol...lol. The team has film so I will try to get my hands on some and post it in the near future.

Thanks again to everyone for the suggestions.
