Cam Ward racking up awards; Tabbed to Walter Camp Player of the Year Award Semifinalist

Miami Hurricanes senior Cam Ward was selected as a semifinalist for the 2024 Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, the foundation announced Wednesday.

The list is comprised of 20 student-athletes, including eight quarterbacks, seven defensive players, two running backs, two wide receivers/tight ends and one two-way player.

Ward ranks first nationally with 3,494 passing yards and 32 passing touchdowns.

I think he will have majority locked up but the big one Heisman will be tough with Colorado controlling destiny and being in big 12 championship, I think most will have hard time overlooking a guy playing 170 snaps in a game, too much of a unique situation..

Cam should be the ACC POY, and has a very good shot at winning the Walter Camp Award and several other offensive POY awards. However, after the GT loss, Cam Ward slipped from first in the Heisman odds to a distant fourth in the Heisman odds according to Vegas Insider. Stats help Cam’s case, but team success also impacts the odds. Travis Hunter and Jeanty are both having historic seasons, and Gabriel is the QB for the #1 team. However, Colorado and Jeanty must both continue to win out, and post big numbers. Oregon needs to win out for Gabriel to have a chance. All of this will be difficult and is not a given.

At this point, IMHO, the Canes need to win out the regular season and win the ACC Championship game, then see where things stand at that point for Cam leading into Heisman week. I am confident that Cam will continue to post big numbers, but the Canes need to win out. Either way, I think Cam should definitely get an invite to NYC, but he needs some help to win the Heisman.
