I'll help you out, OP... he's a 2023 Edge currently committed to Illinois. Composite 3* kid currently ranked outside the top 1000 on 247. Played mostly with a hand in the dirt from the DE position in his highlights. According to a recent Tweet of his, as of last week his stats for his senior season are pretty absurd, at 86 tackles, 15.5 sacks, 35 TFLs, 3 FFs, and 1 INT. Here's his junior season highlights, which is about 14 minutes of him living in the other team's backfield:

Oh for the old days when people talked recruiting and actually saw kids play and analyzed it. Two yeas from now there will be a post as to why this kid was not discussed.

I'd like to know his actual height/weight.

Is he really "6'3.5" or is he closer to 6'1? I suspect the latter is more accurate and a big part of the reason why he's so under recruited.

I won't make the mistake of basing skill on highlight tapes again. But I do like the fact that he doesn't just try to bull rush on every play. He's using his hands/swim move to get around the man in front of him.

If this guy had Chamberlin Campbell's size (who shows absolutely nothing on film or statistically) he'd be ranked much higher.

Always tough to say for sure off the highlight. I have not seen him in person and don't know if any of those numbers are verified, but it does look like he's the tallest guy on his DL and he looks like he's got longish arms for his height. Not sure about 6'4" though.... Again, hard to say based on highlights, but I thought he also looked a little too lean to be his listed weight of 230 lbs., but his frame looks like he could add good weight.

Agree with you on his use of hands and also leverage to get around guys. I noticed he's also inconsistent with his get-off (sometimes he looks real fast, other times he's the last DL out of his stance), but he still manages to make plays even when he's not quick out of his stance. That shows room for improvement. Overall, as many plays as he made and as often as he was in the backfield (14 minutes is a LONG highlight vid for one season for a DE), he seemed under-ranked to me. If his senior film is similar and reflects the stats he recently posted on Twitter, I have to believe it's a question of measurables or something else keeping him outside the top 1100 players.

I watched the Columbus game. What number was he? Number 3 was putting on a clinic. Kick off return for a TD and 2 TD over #14 Irvin

#3 is their WR boy can scoot. Smith is a 5tech DE incredible length could be a package flip with their CB Tobe.
