According to twitter, Cain hasn't practiced in a week and Kirby was injured in the scrimmage. They said no further info is available on those 2. Certainly helps to explain our depth chart and underwhelming performance in the last scrimmage.

Seantrel is in full pads though, which is great news.

Hoping that Kirby gets healthy along with Eddie Johnson, we need them at LB badly.

Also hoping Seantrell fights hard enough to take the RT job. Love Flowers, but would much rather have a healthy motivated Henderson starting there at the start of the season.

Eddie Johnson in yellow.. Larry Hope in red today.Corey King in red. Sounds like Seantrel is going to start the year as third string RT #SMH

I know it's early and they don't get a lot of reps but I was really really hoping either Dewey or Crow would step up and outplay the other one.

IMO, it's not important, or even desirable, to designate one over the other at this time. Starter and backup guys - absolutely. Third string betwenn freshmen, not so much. One or the other will redshirt, but you do that farther down the road.

What about David Thompson...?

Dude was playing ball with a torn rotator cuff IIRC. He's out until baseball season.

Torn labrum. You won't see him for awhile.

What I mean is that I was hoping one was clearly better than the other one. You don't really know what you got until these guys get to campus and start playing. With both looking very average in high school, I was hoping to see one exceed early expectations.

It's early of course.

I was at last Saturday's practice. Dewey and Crow were both looked pretty average. Crow has a stronger arm and is bigger kid. Dewey has a long, slow release. He has a hitch in his arm motion. I was expecting more out of Dewey, especially since Ty Detmer was his HS coach.

Thanks for the input. I was thinking the same thing about Dewey. No disrespect to Crow but I had hoped Dewey would have put immediate distance between them just based on his coaching and preparation. Thinking long term here, not just this season.

I thought Dewey would look more "College Ready" than Crow.....but unfortunately that wasn't the case. I'm basing this on more than just one practice. I think Olsen, jumps them in the depth chart his first day at Greentree....
