According to both the Sun Sentinel and the Herald, Butch is "supposed" to be the front runner for the coaching job. Not sure I like that......

I'd be stunned if Butch were to take the FIU job. Just don't see it happening as he is working as a special asistant to the Bucs and no offense to FIU but that job would be a MAJOR step backwards. I suspect he'll continue to rehab his reputation for awhile in the Pros and then take a college job. Just not with FIU in the same city where he had so much success with the Hurricanes.

I can't see him at FIU even if he does go he shouldn't be much of a threat to us anyway..

I think Butch is using FIU to get whatever he really wants- be it Wisconsin, an NFL gig, or Tennessee. He is a candidate for every job that has opened in college football practically every year.

If I'm not mistaken FIU was ranked last year. They will get no pull because they play in the sun belt but look at NIU... -_-

Butch going to FIU would make them relevant. He has been and always will be a master evaluator of talent.

I would embrace it with open arms and here are the reasons:

1. FIU and UM do not fight for the same players. So there is no recruiting battle.
2. Butch will slurp up all the "secondary level" talent in SoFl and other schools won't get the diamonds in the rough.
3. Work together through the clinic and camp circuit. Expose the players to the best coaching in the state.
4. Have an open door and clear line of communication between the staffs, there is much to be learned.

Great points. I would also add that I'd rather see him at FIU than an ACC foe.

My fear with Butch is that we would be going for the same talent. Butch knows how to recruit and he knows the talent base. I don't think he would come here to be the "other" school in Miami. Not saying he'd take the job, but if he does, I can see us going head to head for most of the same players.....

**** that. FIU's whole goal is to put themselves on UM's level, and you think it's a good idea that UM participates in that? Shalala, rightfully, would NEVER let that happen. She hates FIU and wants nothing to do with them.

**** this.

I want that guy no where even physically near our program. He's gonna talk so much **** about us to kids

I can see with Pete as AD that FIU wants Butch but not that Butch wants FIU. Butch could get many jobs like USF level that are much better than FIU.

Butch to FIU will not be good for us. it won't be catastrophic, obviously, but it won't do any good.
