Business decisions

He coached Corn Elder from an inconsistent athlete to an elite football player. He coached Adrian Colbert from a future desk job to a rising star NFL DB. He coached Mike Jackson from an attrition candidate into a preseason All-Conference player. Losing those kids was a failure. A big one. But you get fired for bad results on the field. That hasn't happened yet, and I don't think it will with studs like Gilbert Frierson, Al Blades and DJ Ivey

Elder was already really good before he got here. I don't think he improved drastically in his one year under RumF. Colbert did well. Could be his skillset combined with a change of scenery/scheme or it could be coaching.. Who knows?! Mike Jackson might have just been undervalued by Canes fan. I don't put too much stock into a select player here or there improving.. especially when others are regressing. You can't just take the good and throw out the bad or vice versa. His resume is suspect at best.

Elder was not really good before this staff got here.

The class is good if our goals are to win the Coastal and compete for the ACC title. It’s not good enough for a natty

LOL I love the uninformed sheep.

Go check Clemson's class rankings the past 5-6 years and try again.

And Washington the years before their run. It's about Xs & Os and coaching to go with recruiting. It's about developing what you have and not crying about what you lost. Saban has been getting 5*s forever, has 1000 coaches, a ******* helicopter, and almost missed the playoffs last season! Yet, he's supposed to be a great coach!

Y'all should be more concerned about the on-field product and if we can match up with Clemson next season, because over the next several cycles we'll close the gap in talent & depth with everyone.

No disrespect to the Heritage kids but they not built for this []__[]. Give me dudes, like Nesta, who understand what it means to wear the uniform, rather than front-running mercenaries. It may take an extra class or so, but the outcome of next season and the future success of the program doesn't depend on PS2 & TC.

We still the []__[].

The "business decision" rationale fails with Hartley at TE coach. He's "developed" no one, yet he destroys people on the recruiting trail. Don't tell me about the past with TEU because we have put out more top DBs over the years than TEs.

School history obviously resonates with the kids, and Hartley's first two TEs will get drafted (one in the first round).

Easy sell.

School history? Take a look at all the DBs we've put in the NFL. It's a failed argument, but go ahead and dig your heels in.

When our TE commits are constantly tweeting #TEU and #BusinessDecision, their mindsets are pretty clear.

And Hartley has already produced a first round TE and another guy who will get picked.

Hartley produced a first round TE? LOL. You don't even believe this stuff.

The TE commits are tweeting that stuff because Hartley convinced them of it. You see that right? Hartley is an incredible salesman.

I'm not sad or hurt I'm just looking at these dudes like they're a bunch of clowns.

Big Nesta is my guy... the strong group of dbs we got this class are going to make big time plays for us so fck em. But lol at how air headed these sfl dbs "business decisions" are

Because HARLEY does a good job getting that message across. He's a good recruiter and Rumph is obviously hot garbage. It's really not that hard to follow.

This.

Hartley did his job by convincing them Miami IS the business decision.

Rumph is in living rooms involuntarily farting when he gets off the couch.

I expect to see people calling for Rumph's head. I don't agree at all, but I get the reaction. Losing those two monsters from his old school was a failure. I also expect to see the usual suspects complaining about South Florida kids choosing to leave town.

Here is the hard truth. If your son is an engineering prodigy, you can't blame him for going to MIT. Alabama and Georgia were in the championship. Saban is the best DB coach alive. These kids want to win championships and go pro.

We need to become the business decision for DBs. That takes time. Nesta Silvera made his own business decision to sign with the best defensive line coach in America. Brevin Jordan and Will Mallory made business decisions to sign with TEU. Jarren Williams made a business decision to sign with a proven developer of QBs.

This is a big-time class. Best offensive class in the nation and very good defensive group. Nesta was the guy keeping me up at night. Him and Ezzard are nasty human beings. Jordan Miller was a gift from the nose tackle Gods. Bethel will be next development project for Rumph. Mike Jackson and Adrian Colbert turned out pretty well.

Richt is one of the most proven recruiters in America, along with Saban and Urban. This class is another feather in his cap.

so pretty much we have to wait for saban to die then?

Isn't that what everyone else in CFB is doing?

yea true lol

Not defending Rumph but what did the DB's do against say....Va Tech or N. Dame??.....See how that works?? It goes both ways....You gotta look at the WHOLE not 1 performance and judge the coaching....

Rumph in his first 3 classes:

- loses our top cb prospect to Tennessee
- loses 2 of our top prospects to UF
- loses our top prospect to UGA, and another 5 star to Bama (both played for him at Heritage)

The guy is getting cucked by the SEC year in and year out. Clearly not a good recruiter. I will admit that he has developed some of our guys well but he has left us in an extremely vulnerable position at cb.

So why does Rumph get "the blame" for losing kids, but "super-recruiter" Bandy gets all the credit for successes?

If you want to blame Rumph for Campbell (Miami NEVER had an inside track on Surtain), fine.

But let's not pretend that Bandy had no role in losing Byrd to Tennessee, or Henderson/Edwards to Florida.

And if all of you fake-geniuses think that replacing Rumph is the answer, then come up with a list of DB coaches who could have convinced Campbell and Surtain to sign with Miami over Smart and Saban.

I'll wait.

Are u talking about Njoku who was recruited by Golden’s staff?? Come on D$, ur grasping pimp. Hartley is a beast recruiter. F it; I’ll play D; what’s Dugans reasoning for grabbing top WRs? Hurns didn’t get drafted. Stacey Coley went in the 6th. We haven’t had a NFL impact WR since, who, Dre? Yet, he’s killing it on the recruiting trail. Pope was thought to be a Bama lean; yet he yanked him to Miami. The fact is, Rumph can’t recruit, period. He’s epically failed 2 cycles now. I can’t F w ur reasoning. This is when u earn ur check, and right now, he owes Miami some money back.

People saying I get bama but UGA? People act like smart wasnt apart of those Natys. You dont think hes bragging about all those pro kids jus like Saban? " I talked Nick into signing Minka, Hes gonna be a top 10 pick. That can be you too" Its not hard man. What can Rumph sell? Corn Elder?

In the last 2 years, there have been 6 kids from Dade and Broward who were ranked in the top 10 in the state. We signed zero. If you include 2016 as well, even though this staff only had 2 months, there were another 3. So in in the last 3 years, there have been a total of 9 kids from Dade & Broward ranked in the top 10 in the state and we signed 0.

In the last 2 years, we have signed 1 kid ranked in the top 10 in the state. If you include 2016, we still only signed 1 kid ranked in the top 10 in the state of Florida over a 3 year period.

So, over 3 years we have not signed a single kid from Dade or Broward who was ranked in the top in the state. And we have signed 1 kid ranked in the top 10 of the state over the same period of time.

Just pointing out facts, nothing else. But, if you want to compete with the BAMA's, CLEMSON's and now UGA's of the world, the first step you need to take is lock down ELITE talent in your very own backyard in and in your state. Yeah, a number 5 or 6 recruiting class is great, but you still cannot whiff on this amount of talent in your own backyard and state and ever expect to compete with the big boys. Especially considering that this staff is not elite.

this is pretty damning

Gotta play the game. Gotta pay the piper. You know the story $

Has nothing to do with fckn Rumph... South Florida dbs are fckn mental. We couldn't recruit American Heritage when James Coley was here but now Coley is an ACE at UGA?? No its clear that it doesn't matter who is a recruiter at these SEC schools.. these simple minded sfl dbs are just some groupies they gon jump on that d**k regardless.

We always worried about who the best of the best recruiter is and we need to have him... that isn't the issue, it's south Florida dbs that are the issue.

Horse**** post from the ultimate respecter of decisions. You're so evolved!

I'm not for jumping on the fire the coaches train but Rumph just flat out aint getting it done. Losing out on those two from his old school is clown ****.

No need to argue. It's a flawed mindset but one he won't let go of. Apples & oranges
