Business decisions

I expect to see people calling for Rumph's head. I don't agree at all, but I get the reaction. Losing those two monsters from his old school was a failure. I also expect to see the usual suspects complaining about South Florida kids choosing to leave town.

Here is the hard truth. If your son is an engineering prodigy, you can't blame him for going to MIT. Alabama and Georgia were in the championship. Saban is the best DB coach alive. These kids want to win championships and go pro.

We need to become the business decision for DBs. That takes time. Nesta Silvera made his own business decision to sign with the best defensive line coach in America. Brevin Jordan and Will Mallory made business decisions to sign with TEU. Jarren Williams made a business decision to sign with a proven developer of QBs.

This is a big-time class. Best offensive class in the nation and very good defensive group. Nesta was the guy keeping me up at night. Him and Ezzard are nasty human beings. Jordan Miller was a gift from the nose tackle Gods. Bethel will be next development project for Rumph. Mike Jackson and Adrian Colbert turned out pretty well.

Richt is one of the most proven recruiters in America, along with Saban and Urban. This class is another feather in his cap.

so pretty much we have to wait for saban to die then?

Isn't that what everyone else in CFB is doing?

Georgia isn’t.

Pretty sure they are.

Rumph is a good coach, but he's going against some very good coaches on some very good teams. He'll get it eventually! Still a very good class. Now that the drama with the Heritage kids is over, The only person we fell short on was Campbell, IMO. We made run at Surtain, but Bama is the king of the mountain right now. Imagine how LSU feels right now, lol. I don't think the Staff was too concern about losing Chatfield, but if we would have lost Nesta, considering our Depth, that **** would had hit the fan..

I do know one thing about this 18 class, we're going to put up some points. The offense signing class is elite. That's a National Championship Offense, Defense - Maybe Conference Championship lol

Get the **** outta here with this soft *** take Rumph was brought here to recruit and recruit only he serves 0 purpose on this staff Now

He was hired to coach. He coached Corn Elder from an inconsistent athlete to an elite football player. He coached Adrian Colbert from a future desk job to a rising star NFL DB. He coached Mike Jackson from an attrition candidate into a preseason All-Conference player.

Losing those kids was a failure. A big one. But you get fired for bad results on the field. That hasn't happened yet, and I don't think it will with studs like Gilbert Frierson, Al Blades and DJ Ivey.

Did you see our DBs get worked all game by Wisconsin’s receivers?

Exactly. The teams we played with any talent at all threw it all over us

Our defensive recruiters are average at best. This class proves it. Lets be honest, stevenson is a beast, but there isn't a db in 2019 that is as good as PS2 or Ty Campbell.

The "business decision" rationale fails with Hartley at TE coach. He's "developed" no one, yet he destroys people on the recruiting trail. Don't tell me about the past with TEU because we have put out more top DBs over the years than TEs.

Holy **** you're blind.

This soft *** mentantly of “we didn’t get the best two but we got some other good ones” is why we will never be back you don’t let kids like that leave and win championships those are two first rounders an hour away from campus hired their hc and still didn’t get them lol we’ve gotta do better

D$, so what business decision was made last year by all those guys that signed with a 5 loss uga team? Bottom line is if the DB coach has to be proven in order to sign kids then we should have hired a proven DB coach. Total and utter fail by Rumph. No two ways about it.

On to spring!

kirby came from the saban way. drop the bags. same way bama all of a sudden kept getting top recruiting classes . go back and look at bamas rise.

I do agree with the quality of coaching from Rumph and that alone is enough to keep him in the staff. I expect him to to develop our recently signed DBs! However, the 10th coach MUST be a super recruiter on defense that is now a clear must, we have a recruiting weakness on the defensive side, I don't see a great recruiter coach on the defensive side of the ball. We need one urgently! The 2019, 2020 classes are looking good, they need to be closed! We are as strong as our weakest link!

School history obviously resonates with the kids, and Hartley's first two TEs will get drafted (one in the first round).

Easy sell.

Gotta win more head to head battles with the big boys if we want to be back. Especially for kids in our backyard.

You can't just pick and choose which "business decision" you want a part of. If Surtain went to Bama bc of Saban, fine.. Same with Silvera and Coach Kool.. but you can't link Jordan/Mallory in with them. Choosing Miami would be them choosing Hartley, who is far from proven. Being TEU means sh*t from a development standpoint.

RumF is an average (at best) coach. The only thing elite about him is his ability to miss on recruits.

D,

I hear you, but explain to me why business decisions don't apply in the State of Texas (Houston Area specifically), Los Angeles County and in the States of GA, AL, MS? Texas and USC have been just as bad as we have been. Why is there a double standard for the U?

Also how much credit should we really give to Saban for developing 5 stars? These kids have the tools to succeed anywhere with hard work.

I'm not calling for Rumph to be fired and I'll for perspective but this South Florida double standard is a huge issue.

We will absolutely never ever ever be "back" until we are able to sign the Campbell's and the Surtains of the world.

The usual suspects? Way to not so subtly discredit anyone who makes the valid determination that Rumph is not cutting it. You say Nesta came here because it was a business decision? Ok fine now fire Rumph and get a real coach that can actually recruit. Rumph has known these kids since they were in diapers and they still don't want to play for him. As a matter of fact nobody that has known Rumph previously has wanted to play for him. You don't find that disturbing? There is something very wrong here and it must be acknowledged. We will never be back until we can sign the likes of the 2 5 star CB's we just whiffed on.
