Just returned from Boston and watched the televised broadcast. I focused predominantly on the play of the offensive and defensive lines. On offense, Bunche struggled at times. He whiffed on several blocks and, if not for some quick 3-step drops, Morris would have been sacked several times. He doesn't seem to move well laterally. I sure hope Seantrell returns soon. Bunche is absolutely the weakest link. The other linmen played very well. Even Jeremy Lewis got some burn and played well.

On the defensive side...well.....it was quite offensive. We played poorly but that's stating the obvious. No pressure. No hurries. Rare of glimpses of defensive linemen in the backfield. Chickilo was just okay. Luther seemed the quickest off the line among the tackles. Pierre was in position to make a few tackles behind the LOS but let the RB escape his grasp. Ditto for Hamilton on one play. The ends were ineffective This unit scares me.

Bunche definitely had a poor game. I was also focusing on him, and yeah, not as good as I expected. I do think hes a player, and should improve considerably even next game, but its worrying.

The problem is Seantrel doesnt wanna play LT for whatever reason, and do we really wanna move the freshman to LT??

Second time I watched the game I saw Bunche leaning forward on numerous plays, thats disaster waiting to happen when he has to face more athletic ends going forward. I doubt BC had anyone on the dline who should have given him issues. If it was a one time thing, no problem. But it happened a few times

It's not that Seantrel doesn't want to play LT. Due to his back injury, his leg kick on the left side is weaker. He may end up back over there eventually.

Seantrel cant play LT because of his back injury, he feels more comfortable on the right said. Golden has said this several times

I suppose flowers could replace bunch and sh moves in at rt.

I dont think bunch would displace jf or linder however.

In truth, bunch looks the part of a LT (not a G) but seems to be missing something.

yeah, i'm thinking it could be like game #2 last year. Shift game #1's RT to LT and put the LT from game #1 on the bench.

and Bunche doesn't have the feet and doesn't isn't a knee bender.

I don't even like to look in his direction. It's not going to improve. Bunche is the Telemaque of offense, as far as I'm concerned. Eventually the stiff reality will catch up with the overboard reputation.

I don't think we have anyone who looks like a pure left tackle. You can sense why Henderson doesn't want to risk it because far too often he's a half step slow on the pass drop. When that happens he semi-panics and his legs split awkwardly. Henderson definitely makes more sense at right tackle with his back issues. Actually I'd trust Linder on the left side, but there's no reason to move him there. Flowers played some left tackle in the spring game, admittedly against reserves.

In addition to Bunche struggling I thought McDermott struggled at times as well. Wasnt it his 1st career start?

Do you guys think Flowers is better than Fox from a few years back? I do. Did Fox start out at LT? I think he did but I'm not sure. I'm not sure I'm ready to give up on Bunch there yet either.

I trust the coaches. They always talk about what the lineman grade out at and whatnot. If he graded out bad I'd imagine he's working his tail off to get better this week. They ought to run Duke right to his side on the 1st play and tell him all week that's what's happening.

I would be SHOCKED if he did not grade out bad. He was pedestrian. Keep in mind that the vast majority of the throws were horizontal and based on quick drops. Maybe Fisch knows something about the O-Line that we don't. I recognize BC basically begged us to "dink & dunk" them to death but maybe we lack the Pass Pro to protect Morris adequately with a game plan that involves stretching the field vertically.

Hopefully, it was first game jitters. No se. But, we need Seantrell to provide quality depth. That's not even debatable at this point.

Fox started out as a RT. He moved to LT i think his junior year.
