Miami is currently #5 in RPI and hasn't received a single vote in either poll. What a joke. A 7-seed for their body of work to date is laughable. They should be ranked in the Top 20 and projected as a 4-seed. What has Minnesota done to deserve a 3-seed that we haven't done? Lunardi is a moron.

Minnesota has a name-brand coach and they have some really good talent. We shouldn't be worrying about Top 25 stuff anyways, since it has exactly zero impact on getting an at-large bid. Win 11 ACC games and call it a day.

Bubble Watch 2013:

ACC

Locks: Duke
The Blue Devils had one of the most impressive nonconference campaigns in recent memory, and look to be the clear team to beat over 18 games in the ACC. They're obviously in. After that? Well, the league has some work to do to sort the order out, but a five-bid year still looks pretty attainable.

Miami (10-3, 1-0; RPI: 8, SOS: 3)
A tough team to gauge at this point, as an early loss to Florida Gulf Coast was without point guard Durand Scott and the two Ls in the Diamond Head Classic came without center Reggie Johnson, who's out until February with a broken thumb. The problem: Miami's ACC schedule has four of their five games against the State of North Carolina powers by Feb. 9. Johnson may miss all of those, and the committee could have a mess of a time evaluating the Canes when they're whole.
GW: Michigan State (ACC/B10 Challenge), at UMass?sai
BL: Florida Gulf Coast

Top 25 stuff does bring national recognition, which bodes well for recruiting and the program's image. Beyond that, polls are meaningless for anything March-related. But this team deserves a ranking and the rewards associated with it. Like I said in another thread - #5 RPI, #2 SOS. 4-2 v Top 50. It is an absolute JOKE and a travesty that the pollsters don't have us ranked.

Agreed, and that's what most of us are talking about when we want Miami ranked. We know it doesn't sway the committee, but it does our fair weather fans, and it does recruits. It helps to have our highlights on sportscenter, or our scores show up more often on ESPN's bottom ticker.

To the mopes on the board, a top 25 ranking means your relevant. It means recruits care and take notice, it means our crappy fair weathered fans will get to the arena and it brings excitement to the team.

Shut up with the anti-25 stuff. Enjoy it and let's keep working hard.

Currently a #6 seed per ESPN and playing Temple. Florida is the #3, so if both won, we'd get the Gator in the 2nd round. Other ACC teams, Duke as a #1, NC State as a #4, UNC as a #11. Other opponents, FGCU as a #15, Michigan State as a #4, Arizona as a #2. Maryland is in "Last 4 out" and FSU and Indiana State are in "Next Four Out."

Jerry Palm and CBS have the Canes as a #4 seed, playing Weber State. They have the same 4 ACC teams plus Maryland in.
