Typically the best coaches show up in December/January. Talent or not, Coach D will have a chance scheme and put this unit in the best position to play well. Will they play well? Maybe not relative to other defenses, but it should not look anything like what we saw against Duke, VT.

Typically even the most useless defensive coordinators don't give up 500 ypg 4 times in 5 weeks

/ in their 3rd year

So, if he can prepare over four weeks and put a respectable defense on the field for a bowl game, what the **** has he been doing during the off season?

Your mouth to Gods ears.

Is this intended as a old Laugh-In skit? He will still be making adjustments from the Pitt game at the bowl game.

I think you are way too far ahead. The best coaches win games when things are on the line especially when they are the favorites. We should have won against both VT and Duke. We laid an egg against both and let up 90 points combined.

VT was averaging 22 PPG before us (they almost doubled that against us) and Duke was averaging 30 PPG before us (they had a 60% increase against us). I would have taken average performances against each team (i.e. our D only lets up what they average).

I am not concerned as much about how the staff does when they have a month to prepare because we only play one game PER YEAR that features that much time. I am concerned with how our coaches do DURING THE SEASON.

Don't look too far into that mumbo jumbo. In the Duke game, I took those stats, the totality of their skill position talent, our offensive rush stats (we had at least previously shown a willingness to stick w/ the run in tough times) and their crap back 7, added it all together, and lost betting double what I usually bet on a game. I don't even bet on Miami unless it's a game I feel confident about. I really did think we'd beat them by double digits. I am apparently a terrible gambler.

After re-watching the game, it's hard to understand just how badly we got steamrolled by Duke. I don't even want to watch Virginia stuff because I'm gonna see how bad they are and get excited about making a play on the game.

anyone who expects to see anything different at this point is retarded

I dissagree. The Bowl game will tell us something.

If they don't even show up, like Shannon's teams did every year, if the cold weather in Orlando is a factor, and/or the team is wholly unprepared, it says a LOT.

First Bowl game for most of these kids, who were hearing they might never get in a bowl again for the last two years.

Then again, with a coastal title and ACC CG/BCS bowl at stake two weeks in a row against weaker teams, they laid down, so maybe a bowl game won't mean much to them.

Just win the **** bowl game... A program like miami it's embarrassing to say it's been since 06 in the whatever the **** computer bowl in Idaho was our last bowl game

Just win the **** game

I think it (the D) will look exactly like it did against VT and Duke, and like it will look against UVA and Pitt. I don't think a month of practice will mean much, regardless of the opponent. I think it'll be great if these guys get to a bowl, move in the right direction for the program. But I don't expect them to play appreciably better than they have for the last mont. If they do I'll be pleasantly surprised. But there are no difference makers on the D that I can see. There's no guy or guys that will make a play or the D somehow steps up to take over a ballgame. And the coaches can't seem to stop the bleeding. It is, what it is.

Why?

The WORST coaches expose themselves in November.

The Canes, for the last 7 years at least, have been incapable of beating ANTONE in college football by the time November rolls around.

I bet we average 1-3 in Novemeber the last 6 or more years.

Ask and you shall receive:

Shannon

07'- 0-4

08'- 2-2

09'- 3-1

10'- 2-2

Golden

11'- 2-2

12'- 3-1

13'- 0-3

TOTAL 12-16

Not good. We actually have a chance to lose 5 games in November this year. Ouch.
