Figured I'd start a thread like this every few weeks or so to check the pulse of the board. I thought the discussion was really good and clean for a while after we made the changes, but things have definitely taken a turn with the KSU loss. A lot of that is normal, some of that can be corrected. I take blame, as I've been swamped at work and not as involved as I need to be in cleaning things up. However, I think we've identified that 90% of the problems come from 5-6 of the posters and will be dealing with them accordingly.

Anyways, please use this thread to voice your complaints, suggestions, comments, etc. (CaneDaddy I see you). This is an ongoing process and we will be checking ourselves regularly.

You know I still respect you for what you have put together but I know this place can ultimately provide a better product. If you are cleaning up some of the "trouble" users then that should alleviate some/most of the issues.

Football Board: Self policing is probably biggest issue. If a user sees a worthless *** post, just report it. At least the Mods can decide if it belongs. We have three types of posters on this board right now: Blind *** homers, Realistic fans, and Chicken Littles. It is tough to appreciate a differing opinion but try not to resort to personal attacks. I would also stop moving threads to the WEZ. Just delete the bull**** posts in the thread and if the dumbasses come back, put them on 10-post detention.

Recruiting Board: Need to get Bert and the rest of the mods off their *** and create a thread for each player we are recruiting. We have like 30-40 threads on Matt Thomas, etc. Lets consolidate all posts to a singular thread for each player. If someone starts a new thread on a player, just move their post into the thread. I love the High School threads every week so keep those. I would also have a Tacked "Ask the Experts" thread at the top so people can ask Bert (Not an Expert but I digress), Tito, etc. on specific happenings for recruiting. Not sure if it is possible, you need to start doing a moderated chat session. Have someone scan the questions and then post them for everyone to see (not sure if possible).

Edit: Forgot about the Gameday Board. Stop letting people post new threads in the Gameday board. Post your thoughts, *******, concerns, etc in the Gameday Thread. That is what it is there for.

There were bound to be growing pains with all the new users+ foosball season starting, but overall still the best board for canes fans. Thanks for continuing to make it better.

I agree with all of this really.

If you eye'd the 5-6 posters than I think that will relieve some of the useless post on here.

One thing that's hard and maybe it's just the habit of a poster but clicking the report button just doesn't happen much. I even tend to ignore it all the time and find it easier to just comment. It's hard not to respond to what the idiotic posters drivel contains, maybe I'm one to feel uncomfortable pressing it cuz I'd feel I would go overboard with it. Lulz

Is there a flag I haven,t noticed that signals the topics I have replied? I check this site when I can and I don't always remember which post I have replied. Thx

Im with you. In all my time on Grassy, I think I reported like 2 posts. Since I have been here, maybe 3 or 4. I dont have anyone on ignore either. However, I can see the purpose now because these mods are stretched thin. If they cant see the issue, they cant fix it. That being said, I dont think it should be abused as I can see some people will just report posts because they disagree with an opinion. It should only be used when a poster attacks another poster in attempts to derail a thread or is just blatantly being an idiot.

Yeah, that's true.

Thanks D! This thread is exactly why we all appreciate this site and all that you do.

Shows good leadership IMO

Too many threads on the same topics. Every few days or so somebody will come along and start a discussion on the same **** thing. Maybe tack a few threads to the top with some of the most relevant discussion.

If there's news or something, then that's different, but **** we don't need 10,000 threads about D'Onofrio's scheme or how mean he is.

I think there is a balance here. While having 200 Onofrio threads on the front page can be pretty frustrating, this board is about football discussion. If we go about removing/deleting posts it restricts free thought and expression.

Just streamline the discussion. People come on here and ask questions about things that were already discussed in length. If there were threads tacked to the top about the defensive scheme, Perryman's injury, and Morris' inaccurate day, maybe people wouldn't constantly feel the need to rehash.

Maybe rename the 'report' button the 'snitch' button so people will feel less self-conscious about using it.

One request. Can you guys delete the posts where people want to bring politics on to the football board? There are 1001 places to discuss politics, but this isn't the place. It's a **** football board, but we have fools from both sides who want to bring their political opinion into a subject that's supposed to be enjoyable.

Exactly. Nothing wrong with talking politics, but keep it where it belongs. It's been hard enough following Canes football the last 8 years. I don't want a bunch of other BS packaged in with it too.
