Not a rumor, though it was also not his only issue (there was also talk of his effort in practice and in the weight room). I imagine the reason he is planning to play a full-year at a junior college even though Rutgers wants him (and has space for him) is that he wouldn't be eligible this coming year regardless (technically, he should be eligible second semester since he left before the end of first semester).
