Info has been emerging over the last week about what the Gates are doing to desperately make it look like they have recruiting momentum and its spread in multiple threads so collecting it in one thread.

1. Recruits are paid to visit
2. Recruits are paid to extend visits so they can't attend rival events (aka BBQs)
3. Recruits are paid to commit on social media
4. Twist kids words to make it seemed like they committed (see Kinsler)
5. Apply extreme high pressure sales tactics to force committments
6. Apply extreme pressure to prevent decommittments

A couple weeks ago in the bank, @DMoney said Billy and the G5s were adopting tactics in SFL that reeked of desperation. I wonder if that was covered in the list above or these were more juvenile tactics that I haven't capture yet?

#1 is old news. I think it was clear years ago that kids were having money funneled to them for visits by nearly all the SEC schools, along with several others. Given that, "shutting it down" needs to come with additional funding, otherwise why wouldn't a recruit keep taking visits? So I'm not surprised they pay recruits to stay away from other programs, in fact I'd be surprised if they didn't.

The rest if true seem like Al Goden tactics. Pressuring kids like that and being moronic about clowning other programs just leads to bad outcomes. I hope they keep it up, since any quality recruits they do get verbals from will jump ship later.

Won’t work long term. They aren’t projected to have a good season so it could get ugly on the recruiting side. They will still have a good class, but I would expect some flips to other programs

A ton of schools pay for visits.

Kinsler posted a commitment edit from his account that he committed to UF and had all of the other typical stuff in the tweet. Then supposedly he committed without committing??? The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

The bottom line is that we have a savage recruiter in Mario and he is doing very well against Napier. Napier will win some recruiting battles against Miami, but I'm fairly certain Mario will win a lot more against UF.

I found the committing without committing comment odd too given his tweets, but if you factor in paying for social media posts, it could make sense.

It explains why Mario often keeps visit lists quiet and the ramifications of leaking a visit to the public. G5 will go to extreme measures to prevent UM visits so leaks have costs. Looks like several kids that were leaked to be at the BBQ never made it and D$ was very surprised when the names came out.

OK, but again, why do we care? Mario does what he wants because that's what Mario wants to do. I couldn't care less what any measures are gone to in gainesville, extreme or not. Again, I do not care about these people. I am 7 million percent convinced Miami will be better than they are as a program going forward. I don't even think about these people. They may as well not exist.

I think @lindend is just putting together a little sequential “snapshot” of everything.

After this weekend we have the usual people coming out of the woodwork saying things like it was a failure , UF is killing us lol etc… which it was not and not even remotely true.

Yes UF will get recruits… and I’ll focus on Jean here but ask yourselves do you really think Jean won’t be back on campus? That’s why people labeled it as desperate and ridiculous to try and keep him from our event.

Take a good look of where we are and where we were 9 months ago Dec 1st. Look at how we closed last cycle and look at where we are this cycle and the players we are in it for.

Bottom line we’re more than fine right now

Writers need to start respecting the secrecy needed at times. It will mean that they won't be getting the news out early, but I'd bet Dijon is at the BBQ if it hadn't been reported he was planning on coming. On the flipside, that means the news on kids might be sparse, if the writers do hold back.
