Even in 2005, when we were 3rd in the BCS and only had to beat a bad GT to get in the ACC CG against FSU, we were only playing for a BCS bowl and ACC CG (Texas and USC were locked into 1 and 2 and the BCS NC).

In the next 8 days, we will be:

1) 9-0 and a major contender for the NC, and locked into the ACC CG

2) 8-1, with a rematch against FSU in the ACC CG

3) 8-1, (win over FSU, lose to VT) and competeing for second/third in the Coastal again, basically season fin.

4) 7-2 and out like fout of everything, playing Duke for Coastal runner-up, trying to stay in the top 20, season fin.

That's a HUGE window there, for 8 days. 6th NC or Radio style Coastal 3rd place.

Biggest week in Canes history since 2002, I say.

Go Canes!

Reminds me of Winfield Scott's campaign in Mexico. Win every battle huge, absolute blowouts, get on the outskirts of Mexico City, faced with a scenario where one lost battle and the entire Army and US War effort goes down in flames.

(We won that, btw, stormed the city, took Chapultapec, disgraced Santa Anna again, basically going 9-0 in our scenario here)

In terms of national perception, I agree this is big. But I would say next week at home vs. va tech is much more important.

I could handle a loss to FSU, not so much anyone else in our division.

Our only shot at getting a BCS bid aside from winning the acc would be fsu winning out and playing in the natty. That would allow the orange bowl to take us to fill acc champs slot.

I will be happily surprised if we beat FSU tomorrow. I expect #2. If we can win the rest after tomorrow we will finish in the top 5.

I was thinking biggest game since September 7th. But ok.

That was huge, no doubt. But we could have gotten killed by the Gaytors, killed by Free Shoes, and yet still win the ACC.

The NC is on the line tomorrow, the ACC and a BCS bowl next week.

I never thought this UM team stood a legit shot at a NC this year, so all that NC talk is kind of a pipe dream to me. This year is all about winning that Coastal and playing in the ACCCG. The Vag Tech game is everything.

I still think the Hokies can lose a couple more games so we won't be 100% out of it.
Heck, they can lose to BC this week.

Like Al says the most important game is the next one. V-Tech is important but we need to win today and then not have letdown like we did in 05.
