I do not understand how anybody could be mad at Golden His alma mater calls offers him a substantial raise and job security .Anybody in his right mind needs to explore the possibility ,college football is a big business .Golden owed it to his family to check it out .He did and realized that he has a chance too do something special at the ""u". I think he has higher credit ability than he had before this episode.In addition it shows the world how highly he is thought of .Every one of his predecessors who had the opportunity took the leap and all but Jimmy regretted it He is a special person and if given the chance will do something very special here

If your assumption that he turned it down is correct then he might be a special person. If he lost his shot because PSU would not let him bring Mark with him, then Al might be someone in need of spiritual help for overblown pride. I think Al has many excellent "pillars" but he appears stubbornly proud.
 
We will never know. Odds are he wasn't offered and he wasn't going to wait around for an offer to come. Just think, he turned down his alma mater, his dream job, one of the most passionate fan bases and his stomping grounds. For what, an ungrateful fan base for what he did during the NCAA mess, a community that will turn on him at drop of a hat and half the salary. I think the man is truly dedicated to this job and will see it through to the end.
