Best Safety ever to play at the U

With all due respect to the man beast that was Sean Taylor, Ed Reed is the best Safety ever at the U. He was the leader of the greatest Miami team ever.

Ed Reed is the best safety ever to come from Miami.

Sean Taylor is the best safety ever AT Miami.

No disrespect to Reed, but Taylor was more dominant as a college player. In fact, Sean Taylor is the most dominant college defensive player I've ever seen.

I think if he was still living he would have people change their minds about that... Sean was an animal out there, if you watched the video... wynn from Green Bay dropped to the ground when he saw ST coming... He put fear in peoples heart, even Terrell Owens... He was very aggressive and fearless... Wish we could find more recruits like him though. I would have loved to have seen both him and Ed Reed in the secondary... it would have been ****... Ed is a beast of course but Sean was and alien... He played angry...

Too close to call, I'm a huge Reed fan so I usually side with him.

Taylor had 14 INTs in 2 years, 3 returned for TDs
Reed had 19 INTs in 3 years, 17 in his last 2 years, 4 returned for TDs

Crazy to think that about our team totals now.

Absolutely sick to have them back to back. If Sean wasn't murdered you could be looking at the top 2 S of all-time IMO.

I totally agree...

Not to take anything away from him, but you're comparing Ed Reed's REDSHIRT Junior and Senior years to Sean's TRUE Sophomore and Junior years.

Love Ed, but give me Sean Taylor all day.

Staylor was just a physical beast at safety. This guy even played some snaps at cornerback in redzone situations. In terms of instinctive ability, it is hard to pick against Reed as he was an absolute ballhawk, and during his early days at UM was a pretty good special teams player, particularly blocking punts and as a returner. However, STaylor was a complete safety who could play in the box as well as patrol the airways. It's a tough call. I'm just glad both guys played represented da U.

Sean Taylor will go down as one of my all time favorites right next to Dan Morgan, with that said I would still give the nod of all-time best to Sir Edward Reed.

How about the best safety not named Ed or Sean.....that dude Darryl Williams.
