Sincere question... From a complete business/football perspective (and removing all emotion), are there any benefits for keeping Coach D on staff?
From an outsiders perspective, it seems that Golden is sticking with Coach D primarily for emotional reasons (lifelong friendship). I cannot think of a single logical, reasonable, or business reason to stick with him.
Poor coach: Stats don't lie.
Poor recruiter: Cannot recall a single recruit ever mentioning having a great relationship with him.
Poor media skills: Horrible interviewee and not savvy with public relations.
Upset fan base: The fans want his head on a stick.
Huge recruiting class: The 2014 class is amazing. They need a coach/scheme to develop the talent or it will set this program back another 5 years.
Can anyone think of a non-emotional reason for Al Golden keeping him on staff? I expect my wife to make emotional decisions, not my head football coach.
