Petagna slighted our acquisition with a tweet about seeing the impact of Beck losing Bowers and McConkey and him being "best case scenario in a pedestrian QB market.

We are NOT ignorant fans as Canes. Please use the below comp to fuel data-infused retorts to all the silly slights out there about picking up the NUMBER ONE prospect in the portal.

We can't compare 2024 Carson Beck to 2024 Cam Ward, as I don't think that's fair. Ward also benefitted from a significantly better running game and WRs who secured passes instead of leading the nation in drops and dropped yards like UGA. D$, Gaby, and David Lake have all recounted that. Instead let's compare Beck's average season at UGA versus Cam's average season at 2023. Both had two full seasons at their prior stops.

UGA Beck Average Season: 3,700 yards, 26 TD's, and nine picks. 8th QBR in 2024, 7th QBR in 2023.

Wazzu Ward Average Season: 3,500 yards, 24 TD's, and eight picks. 50th in 2023, 60th QBR in 2022.

Let me be clear: I'm not suggesting AT ALL Beck is better or going to be better than Cam. However, to consume slights about him in media about "bad seasons" is ignorant. Use the data to be INFORMED hype artists this off-season.

LET'S GO, CANES!!!

I would only add that you can’t go strictly by box score. Beck was not the same this year as 2023. We are banking on our QB development being better than Georgia, who has not produced a 1st round pick QB since Matthew Stafford and having a better WR core that has not produced a 1st round WR since AJ Greene.

As my good buddy @Memnon stated to me recently, two things can be true at the same time.

#1 Carson Beck is a pretty good QB.
#2 Brock Bowers in particular made this man's career for him. Now we need to see if he can stand out after a year of struggling at times without him. He's not cam at all(nor should he be), but he's pretty good all the same. He should stand out and get the ACC bump regardless.

Any chance we get our own Bowers for Beck to throw to?

Also saw he had 600-700 drop yards this year alone. Bunch of videos out there of long passes flat out getting dropped. Add in the lack of OL and I expect 3500-4000 yards and 30+ TDs.
Yardage i definitely agree. Not sure on the tds though. I'd say more 25ish. We're gonna prioritize the run a lil more. I will preface that by saying if we do get a particular transfer or two that we're supposedly getting in spring than the tds will be more than I'm staying for sure.

Are these transfers both WR or could one be a TE? Would also make sense if we monitor the portal for the right RB.

If Beck gives us 3500 yards, 25 TDs less than 10 ints on the season, with a strong run game and a better defense, we’ll be in the mix to win the ACC and fighting for a playoff spot
Agreed… watching teams this year make a deep run with sh*t quarterbacking and high level defensive play puts things in perspective.

We don't have our own Bowers.

But we do have our own BROCK.

And he's a freak, too.

What is #1 "must fix" on D side?

For me, it's communication.

I would argue that we’ve all seen Beck’s ceiling in 2023. He had talent all around him and a pretty good O line. Nobody ever saw Ward’s ceiling. He was running for his life every other play and had maybe 2 decent guys to throw to his whole career before he came here. With that being said, if Beck puts up his 2023 numbers we’ll be just fine. And that’s exactly what he’s being brought here to do. Nobody can replace Cam Ward.
