Baylor grants releases 5 signees. Could Miami get involved with any? - State of The U

Hopefully Miami can land CB Parrish Cobb & OT JP Urquidez. I know the 2017 and 2018 DB classes in south florida are loaded with talent but that bird in the hand always beats the bird in the bush. Plus Cobb can return kicks and punts so if they beat him out in 2 years he can still play special teams.

Also going after Cobb will put pressure on the Bama Transfers to hurry up and either sign with Miami or let UM move on. Ideally I would love to land both Cobb and Smith (the bama transfer).

I believe that was his brother Devin that already committed to UT.Donovan just got his release.

Literally none of those kids are considering Miami.

Parrish Cobb? Seriously? When was the last time we landed a kid from Waco, Tx.

All will end of at other Big 12 schools

What makes you say none of the kids are considering Miami? Proof please, keeping in mind JP Urquidez spent several days at Miami last spring and Miami was in his final top 4.

The staff should be all over JP Urquidez

Yea, but they're twins....i doubt they're not a package deal. Wasn't too long ago when they were rumored to be sooners

So the twin is perceived to be out and going to UT, Cobb to OU where he was previously committed... Then there were 3. Hopefully we get one of the big OLineman. We could desperately use both. JP should be the biggest priority based on need alone and especially if Hudson is truly a G and not an OT.

I'd like for us to get one of the OLineman(if not both), but there shouldn't be any restriction on them right? They wouldn't have to sit a year due to transferring?

It would be like S. Henderson when he was released by USC. They are eligible to play day 1.

Your logic is my favorite!

What makes u say Jennifer Lawrence doesn't want my ****? Proof please...

Miami has made contact with JP Urquidez's father. They are going to see how interested he is, but expect him to wind up at Texas.

Are you saying to expect him there because you heard something? Seems he wants to be by his family

Yes I've heard he will end up at Texas. But Miami is putting out feelers to see how interested he would be.

Well the Problem for Texas is they only have 1 scholarship available and 5 players to choose from an I get the feeling they offered the Duvernay brothers a package deal if/when his twin was released by Baylor. So that leaves potentially 4 others for Miami to pick from.

Texas now free to pursue five former Baylor signees - Burnt Orange Nation

Texas now free to pursue five former Baylor signees

After initially showing signs of refutation, the Baylor Bears finally released five former signees from their national letters of intent, providing the recruiting market with a handful of 2016 talents seeking a new home.

Charlie Strong and the Texas Longhorns may once again become the beneficiaries of the Baylor’s unraveling following Devin Duvernay, Baylor’s former top-rated signee, committing to Texas earlier this week.

As it stands, Texas has only one available scholarship, although, should signees Marcel Southall or Erick Fowler ultimately fail to qualify academically, more scholarships would become available. That’s temporarily a tossup that looks like it will land in Texas favor, which may mean the Longhorns have one offer to expend and five talents to consider.

Devin Duvernay’s twin brother, three-star Sachse athlete Donovan, never picked up a Texas offer throughout his recruitment, which cost the Longhorns Devin’s commitment, as the brothers wanted to play together at the next level. Texas is yet to offer Donovan following yesterday’s release, but it’s quite possible that Devin’s commitment came with the promise of a roster spot for his brother.

If not, or should attrition or academic shortcomings become a reality for Texas, four-star guard Patrick Hudson is a player many would love to see in burnt orange. The nation’s No. 2 guard and No. 50 player chose Baylor over Texas in a last-second decision, and with offensive line depth being an issue right now for the Longhorns, adding Hudson to the mix could provide an immediate impact.

Hudson seemingly teased this possibility the other day on Twitter, so it will be interesting to see how Hudson’s final recruitment plays out.

Port Arthur Memorial’s Kameron Martin, La Vega’s Parrish Cobb and Copperas Cove’s J.P. Urquidez are all names to keep an eye on. Martin, a four-star all-purpose running back, told Horns247 he plans to visit Texas next week, but it would be a bit of a surprise if he commits considering Texas’ youth and depth in the backfield. Cobb, a former Oklahoma commit and four-star cornerback also seems like a more far-fetched option, as does Urquidez, a four-star offensive tackle. Each hold numerous major offers, but there’s little indication that Texas is a likely landing spot at of now.

If all plays out as expected, Duvernay or Hudson will be joining Texas’ impressive, top 10-ranked recruiting class before long, if not both of them, if another scholarship comes available.
