Cook the RB from Central is his brother

Burnett is a great scorer. Averaged 36 a game last in the highest classification and one of the toughest districts in Florida. 24 ppg the year before that. He did all that while facing double and triple teams.

He is at a prep school in Mass and had 36 against Oak Hill Academy in a scrimmage

Miami signee DeAndre Burnett entered the NPS on a scoring tear. Friday night, the compact and physically strong 6-foot-1 combo guard was off with his jump shooting. On Saturday, he had no such problems. The future Hurricane stormed Notre Dame Prep for 40 points, which is impressive enough. More impressive is the efficiency with which he got his points, connecting on a smoking hot 16 of 19 shots from the field (4-of-6 on 3-pointers) while dishing out a pair of assists. He's probably more of a two than a one, but he competes and deserves strong consideration for the final rankings of the class of 2013. This wasn’t the first time he’s dropped 40 points in this early season.

FYI NPS = National Prep Showcase

Deandre Burnett, SG, Massanutten – Burnett’s Saturday outburst was among the best performances of the weekend. A 6-foot-2 guard, Burnett got hot and pumped in 40 points on an extremely efficient 16-for-19 from the field. Burnett scored it pretty much when and how he wanted to. He worked in four threes, scored in transition, from mid-range and at the rim. Burnett is a Miami signee.

Actually thats wrong, Burnett was the fourth highest scorer in HS last year, ESPN's Telep drooling over the kid saying he's the next McClinton. He is torching solid talent in prep so far, I actually think the kid will be a beast for us.

Reed is a legit 4 star wing who can shoot and is tough on D, in the Brown/Jones mold

Look for us to take 1-2 more kids in the spring signing period, we are targeting local kid Demetreus Henry, big 6'9" kid, we need him bad and the Canes are very much in it. I spoke to his AAU/HS coach and he said the Canes have a very good shot with him and Coach L is in constant contact.

Coach talked pregame the other day how the looming sanctions have hurt recruiting to the point that 5 kids who were supposed to take visits cancelled when all the noise started swirling again.

Also look for us to possibly take a JUCO kid and/or a transfer in the offseason

I dont think I am "wrong", I just think we have a different interpretation of good/great/elite. It is very, very difficult for me to call any kid in high school elite (LBJ, Anthony Davis, etc.) or great. I am not saying that these guys will never be great, but they are not on that level at this moment. Demetrius Henry would be a great addition but I am worried he wont come (struck out on most big men).

And how many schools land those type of kids 5-6???

Coach L's mold is actually to play with 4 perimeter guys imo. He is just in a situation this season that two of his better players are bigs and gamble is a decent back-up so he is playing with a lot of height

Well not to put down your opinion but I'll take a guy like Telep's opinion over yours when it comes to evaluating HS basketball talent. Burnett is lighting up some very good prep talent averaging nearly 30 a game, not easy to do when you are on a team as stacked as his is.

I spoke to Henry's coach, trust me we have a very good shot there

No problem man. Trust me, I really hope he becomes a superb player at the U. I just dont know if he is the type of kid to change a program.

Great news on Henry. Kid is the goods and he looks like he has matured a bit over the past year.

Eddie also broke his ankle sophomore year

Funny how TC doesnt bring up Dennis Clemente

Or John Wall
Or Mike Bibby
Or Ryan Harrow

Or any point guard he wants because the comparison of a 5'10 Cuban PG to a 6'1 SG from Carol City is extremely relevant
