Canes up 76-29 on Dowling. They were up 49-15 at half. Dowling is a D-II school on Long Island. McClellan had 12 at the half, followed by Newton with 9.

Canes win 91-40. Mac gets 19. Murphy (who I expect big things from) gets 14 points, 11 rebounds, 3 steals and 1 block. I think him and Jekiri are going to be monsters.

Huge win. We have slept through these exhibitions in the past. COACH L ON A MISSION.

I attended. The new guy #21 looked very good. Better than any of the three guys who transferred out. We finally have another guy who can penetrate and create his own shots.

Weird game. Dowling competed and never looked completely inept yet that game featured a 44-2 run. It went from 20-13 to 64-15.

They only had a few guys taller than 6-5 so we got to the paint and rim with ease.

The freshmen need some work, as always. The little 5-10 guy played only the final 2 minutes so it was difficult to get a read on him. He seemed scrappy and immediately comfortable out there. That can't be said for #5 , who was obviously nervous. Weird frame. He didn't even threaten the scoreboard on his early free throw attempts. But he did start to come around late in the second half. The new center is very thin. He'll need to bulk up if we plan to start him next season. Long arms and athletic enough. Sorry if I don't remember their names after only one game.

I didn't realize Lecomte and Sherman had transferred. I had to doubletake when I didn't see them out there. Then I looked it up later. I knew about Burnett.

Jekiri improves his agility and offensive repertoire a little bit every season. It seemed obvious again last night that he is more comfortable with the ball.

#5 is Davon Reed? I sure hope that he doesn't look uncomfortable out there. He is one of our best overall players on our team

New C? The true freshman, Izundu? I don't expect much from him this year. With Jekiri, Murphy and Cruz-Uceda, hopefully we don't need much from him. I would have loved to have been able to redshirt him, but with Sherman leaving, that's out the window. At 6-10, 210, he does need to bulk up some to bang down low in the ACC.

He meant #3 Lawrence not Reed.

Thanks. I came back to the thread to fix that, after realizing the error.

Lawrence played more than any of the freshman. He was active enough and got to the line. His shot was way off. And not in one consistent pattern. Rattling everywhere. Since he played so much I had the impression we have expectations of him this year. He's out of control in traffic and needs to work on that.

Yeah, Burnett probably was going to up his game. He had untapped athletic ability, not much below McClellan. But the new guy #21 brings that aspect also. He had an ally oop dunk with emphatic ease. Last year when we got into a half court game McClellan was the only guy who could occasionally bust out of that and create his own shot. I get sick of relying on the perimeter in those games.

We do have decent expectations for Lawrence, and I wouldn't read too much into his first ever college game. I'm not sure he's going to be an all-American, but I think he's going to solid. He had good offers out of HS (Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Clemson). As for #21 , Murphy, I have very high expectations for him. He said he wanted to come to Miami out of HS, but was scared away because of the Shapiro crap. He had offers from UConn, UVA, Louisville, FSU, UF and obviously Okie State where he signed out of HS. He averaged 6.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.2 blocks a game as a sophomore for Okie State. Between him and Tonye, we're going to have a scary good frontcourt.
