We beat Columbia (2-10 on the season now) by a score of 9-6.

We drove in a bunch of runs with 2 outs in the second.

Whaley still looked somewhat ******, allowing 3 runs through 5 while also committing 2 errors.

We play Columbia again tomorrow night before a big weekend series against Virginia Tech (admittedly, it's only big because we absolutely must win the series, or we'll be in a huge hole in the ACC standings...oh, and because I hate VPI's baseball team.)

I'll be at tonight's game. Not very enthused. I hope Morris gets torn to pieces by a pack of wild dogs on his way to the third base corch's box.

3 errors tonight. That's the Canes I know.

I'm not any happier about the state of the program than you are, but the gloating over their struggles is immature.

I'll stop being "immature" when we get a new coach.

Here's an interesting piece of information:

After 6 ACC games we have a total of 3 extra base hits (2 doubles, 1 triple, 0 HR). Our opponents have 23 extra base hits (16 doubles, 2 triples, 5 HR).

It's the bats.

Oh wait, no it's not. Crap.

Looks like our guys are hitting with cooked linguini.

You're right, your incessant need to highlight their struggles is a great way to show support.

Carry on.

The biggest question I have about tonight's game is whether or not it's dollar hot dog night like last Wednesday.

You'd think I'd be used to it, but this team's inability to use the bats, especially with runners in scoring position, continues to shock and amaze me.

We have 4 hits, but have walked 5 times...however, in what has become the most sickening trend of Miami baseball, we continue to give away outs. 2 runners caught stealing through 5 innings for us.

2-1 Columbia in the 6th inning, and they have the bases loaded right now with 2 outs.

Columbia is helping us out, keeping us from having to use our bats. 4 walks = 1 Miami run.

Edit: Our 6th inning versus a Columbia pitcher with control problems:

1 run.
4 walks.
0 hits.
1 sacrifice bunt (which ended up being unimportant, considering the walks), 1 pop out to left, 1 pop out to right.

2 quick outs in the top of the 7th...

followed by a single and a double.

3-2 Columbia.

Edit: Error on Carey allows another run to score. 4-2 Columbia

2 on, nobody out in the bottom of the 7th...

oh wait, 1 out now, Morris bunted the runners over. 2nd and 3rd now.

Columbia moving their 1st baseman to pitch now. This could be Lulz-worthy, one way or another.

Morris pitching hitting for Palmer with Kennedy (currently hitting .214).

Kennedy grounds out to the SS. Runner on 3rd scores. 4-3 Columbia.

Michael Broad singles, 4-4 game now.

They are going to snap the post season streak this year or come REALLY close to it.

I would hate, hate, HATE for that to happen, considering FSU and the Lord of No Rings is right behind us, but, if we continue to under-perform, something will have to be the catalyst for some change, I'm just hoping it won't take that.

Columbia is continuing to help us out, booting the ball all over the infield. An error and a sac fly, 6-4 Canes.

Columbia only has 2 earned runs on the night and has allowed 11 free passes. So yeah, nice of them to help our batless wonders out like they have.
