OT/OG Marcus Minor will be in Miami this weekend according to 247:
South Carolina, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Miami, Texas A&M, Virginia, Auburn, Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Rutgers, and Penn State are some of the schools that are recruiting me the hardest.”
Minor plans multiple visits in the coming weeks.
“I am going to Miami this weekend, then I am going to see Rutgers, Texas A&M and Syracuse,” he said. “I went to Auburn last week. I’m not sure on the others yet.”
Minor offered a list of things he is looking for in a school.
“A school where I'm comfortable and one that has my major of journalism,” he said. “I’m not sure when I will commit. I just have to be feeling it.”
UM and Alabama seem to have competition for Jerry Juedy, he's visited FSU twice in the last week and Tennessee seems to continue the trend of recruiting our prospects not only with Jerry Juedy also visiting but also offering Chris Henderson
Star Dematha Catholic (same team as Anthony McFarland Jr and Marcus Minor) DE Chase Young put out a top 15 with us in it. I know how you guys feel about those kind of lists but this is huge when you consider the news that Jarez Parks isn't so high on us AND that our coaching staff is going to Dematha to conduct a coaching clinic. I fully expect Miami to be in the running for all 3 Dematha players til the end. I also saw that people were a little upset about Jarez Parks, which I don't blame you he's talented but everyone seems to forget Robert Beal put us in his top seven and Luigi Vilain also but us on a top ten list a day after we offered.

3* OT Toryque Bateman: Head coach Mark Richt has recognized Miami's need for offensive tackles in the 2017 class and Gadsden (Ala.) City High star Toryque Bateman is just the type he's looking for.
Bateman (6-8, 305) landed his most recent offer from Miami two weeks ago. The fact that Richt had seen him perform in-person probably had something to do with that.
"I started getting followed by the whole staff one day and Coach Searels asked if I was interested in them," Bateman said. "With Mark Richt coming from Georgia and Coach Kul(igowski) coming from Missouri, I already had relationships with those guys. I could see myself fitting in at Miami so I said I would definitely consider them. I didn't know if they offered so he said 'We just did'."
Bateman discussed the previously established connections that have carried over in Coral Gables and how they've contributed to his overall interest level in the Hurricanes.
"Coach Richt introduced himself to me at Georgia camp and we talked about things," Bateman said. "Coach Kul actually came to my school, we couldn't do much there but I met him and then we starting communicating on Twitter. Now they're part of the great Hurricane tradition. I don't know much about it yet but I'm interested to learn."
Bateman's other BCS offers come from Arizona State, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Mississippi State, Missouri, and Tennessee. Of that list, he has twice been to Kentucky and Tennessee. He also took a pair of visits to Alabama, Auburn, and Georgia.
"I can't really say I have a top team, I like everybody who likes me," Bateman said. "I don't have much on my schedule but I plan on visiting Tennessee and Mississippi State. I'll go to Alabama as much as possible because it's close and I'm trying to get that offer. Michigan and Miami are the two bigger trips I want to make."
3* WR Evidence Njoku was here for six days and has told every news outlet that the staff is recruiting him really hard. He also said he wants to study business and marketing or Criminal law so a school who has both those degrees will be in it for the long haul.
4* Alex Leatherwood had some interesting words about UM when he spoke to 247:
The Panhandle has never been friendly recruiting territory for Miami but a couple months ago, they did land their first prospect from the area since 1995.
Both sides of that coin are put on display when talking to Pensacola Washington offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood (6-5, 297) about the Hurricanes.
"I don't know too much about them right now but I can say this," Leatherwood said. "Mark Richt has a great reputation and he's going to do really big things for Miami with the talent that they have. I know Romeo Finley also, he signed there but we haven't really gone over schools yet."
Leatherwood picked up an offer on January 9th, shortly after his 17th birthday, and that served to build on the interest that was already in place.
"Miami was always a school I considered and thought highly of before any offers came in," Leatherwood said. "I liked the area and the history behind the program. I was talking to Art Kehoe for awhile before he moved on and then it was Coach Searels. After they evaluated my film, I spoke with Coach Richt and he offered. Getting that from them was a true blessing."
However, Leatherwood chose Alabama last summer and that certainly still stands. He visited Tuscaloosa four times, more than any other school on his list.
"My commitment is pretty sturdy right now due to the relationships I have with the coaches," Leatherwood said. "The program itself is great and the facilities are too. The location wasn't a factor but that did make it easier to get up there a lot. I got a good feel for them early on and that definitely helped out."
Five names remain under consideration by Leatherwood as competition for the Crimson Tide. He's hoping to see all of them before his senior season gets underway.
"The other schools are Miami, LSU, USC, Florida, and Michigan," Leatherwood said. "I'm hoping to be back at Alabama soon and I'll probably make the Florida spring game. I went to LSU not too long ago but I'm going again for a practice. USC and Michigan will most likely be this summer with the distance and everything."
Recent news has RB Bentavious Thompson in this signing class and not only is his commitment solid but he doesn't really talk to any other schools other than UM. This is interesting news considering that we are heavily involved with Anthony McFarland Jr, Darrian Felix and also Colin Wilson according to an article today and this is what he said:
It's not typical that such a highly touted prospect has a big question mark about the level he can perform at but that's the predicament for Green Cove Springs Clay running back Colin Wilson.
There's no doubt that Wilson's (6-1, 220) recruitment has slowed down, although to what degree is unclear. He only ran for 490 yards and 12 touchdowns on 93 carries as a junior but wasn't fully healthy after a torn ACL in the later stages of his sophomore season.
"I'm feeling pretty good right now, it's been that way for a little minute," Wilson said. "I guess I need to go out there and prove myself to a certain extent. They saw that I could run the ball but they want to make sure that I can still do it the same way. My speed is fine but they're interested to find out about my lateral movement."
2014 was clearly his best campaign with 218 attempts for 1555 yards and 27 scores. If he returns to that form, it will likely be reflected in his recruiting.
Wilson has been limited in his travels, seeing Clemson twice, Auburn, Georgia Tech, and Florida State, who hasn't offered yet. The last visit was six months back so nothing is particularly fresh.
"I haven't gone anywhere lately but I'll try and schedule some trips over the summer," Wilson said. "I can't get rides when I want to go somewhere, especially far away. I'll have more free time coming up and I definitely checking out Virginia. I never went there before and I like what I'm hearing from their coaches."
Wilson didn't directly address who's on him hard but Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Stanford, Tennessee, and USC are among his 24 offers.
The Hurricanes got in the boat with Wilson over a year ago but even as the new staff has settled in, proceedings have been pretty slow.
"I'm pretty sure we talk from time to time, I didn't pay attention to exactly who it was," Wilson said. "They check on how things are going but they don't really ask much about Miami. Hopefully we can move forward and build a relationship over time."
Recruits often evaluate from the angle of pros and cons so Wilson is doing the same with Miami.
"I know it's a really good school but I don't know what type of area it's in," Wilson said. "I'll probably do some research online with the internet being so up to date. I think a couple of my coaches will take me down there later, then I can experience it. I'm cool with Nick Roberts too but we don't talk about our offers as well."
Wilson doesn't expect to announce a decision until after his senior season but he reviewed a few of the variables that enter the equation when that time comes.
"Academics are a big factor but I still haven't figured out what I'm going to school for," Wilson said. "Location is important for some people but I'm not thinking about that at all. With football, I look at how often they run the ball and if they get their backs involved in the offense in other ways."
Billy Joseph: four-star linebacker Billy Joseph, is a former verbal pledge for Miami. Joseph said Miami and LSU are his current top two and the programs he hears from the most.
Joseph said he visits Miami “every other week.” He said he plans to visit Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Auburn and Tennessee this summer.
As a sophomore, Joseph (6-1, 215), who has five verbal offers, racked up 80 tackles and seven sacks.
3* DE Owen Carney: Carney told 247 that we are tied with Duke up top. The Blue Devils might have an edge over us since close friend Terrell Lucas
Happy Friday guys hope this cheers you up a bit if you're having a bad day
