About to lead WFU to their first DII championship. He's not real big and doesn't have a huge arm, but he's very accurate and plays with a lot of poise. They made a point to say he was a huge Canes fan growing up. I think we recruited him lightly out of St Augustine. He has 5 TDs in the first half. I know it's DII but this kid's got something. I think he's just a freshman. Might be worth taking another look at.

Instead of taking him we should take their head coach and OC. They've said plenty of times, the coaches knew they couldn’t block their D line and made it a point to go short and quick to get the ball out of that kid’s hand. That’s better than any adjustment Manny and Enos have made in a full season.

Drew Brees isn’t real big and doesn’t have a huge arm, either.

The best QB prospect in the last 15 years will arrive in Coral Gables in 2 weeks.
That’s what they said when Kaaya came, when Marve came, when Olson came, when JW came. Talk is whatever. Time will tell.

What we know is he is NOT the best QB prospect we have signed in 15 years per the rating services. Maybe Enos evaluates better than Richt, who was supposed to be the ‘QB whisperer.’ Hopefully he does.

Drew Brees is the ultimate outlier. "isn't real big" is being nice. He's incredibly tiny if you've ever met him in real life. I've never believed his listed ht/wt.

Not a humble brag, but one time stood next to Drew Brees and Peyton Manning (when the Pro Bowl was in Miami that one year) and it was one of the most comical things you'll ever see. Peyton Manning is a near monster of a human for a non-lineman. He's unusually big and robust for a frumpy looking dude. Drew Brees is like the opposite. Tiny and frail.

Yet...they are the same guy on the football field. Always mind-blowing to me, idk.

Terrible strategy. When you have a horrid OL, you run PA with your QB dropping 9 yards behind the LOS.

I would say eventually yea. Watched almost the whole game and he's a D1 kid playing on a D2 field. And he loves UM. So if we wanted to kick the tires, i think he'd come here in a heartbeat. But no idea if our staff even knows or cares he exists.

On that note, watching some of the SMU-FAU game there was commentary how SMU adjusted to questionable oline protection by going to an up tempo pace. Imagine that?

I just watched some of their game and I have to say that QB was impressive and I think his arm is actually good.
He is small as you noted.

If I were Mario (obviously I’m not lol), I would:

- Fire Gattless & Poncho
- Hire a proven High-Powered OC (an amalgam of names suffice, but in this case Ben Arbuckle would be the guy due to the familiarity with the QB, but it doesn’t have to be him)
- Have Ruiz offer Austin Reed a really nice lucrative NIL deal with LifeWallet

As for the pursuit of Reed, that’s contingent upon what happens with TVD; if TVD comes back then probably not.

But, just hypothetically speaking, if he were to leave, this is one of the avenues I would drive down to see if he could be enticed to come to Miami. There will be several other options, this is just one of the potential ones to explore.

For those that are wondering why him;

Austin Reed - 2,442yds 21TD’s & 5INT’s at 70%cmp with 174yds & 6TD’s rushing thus far this season.
