At what point do we say enough is enough?

### Former Canes great Alonzo Highsmith says the NCAA is out to get UM. You certainly have to wonder from some of its actions recently, not only that threatening letter to former players, but also the fact they’re going on a fishing expedition by asking people – during interviews - whether UM followed rules regarding practice hours and whether staff volunteers violated rules by doing any coaching. What’s the justification for looking into that?

The NCAA essentially has used Nevin Shapiro’s claims as an excuse to investigate every aspect of the football and basketball programs. It even has asked people about Shapiro’s involvement with baseball (there’s no indication of any). By the way, the NCAA has not responded to a local attorney who told the NCAA that his former players would not speak to the NCAA but would not be admitting guilt by their silence.

How much longer do we take this? Or is the plane to wait patiently, but have the lawyers ready for the slightest sign of overreaching at the end?

IMHO, there is nothing we can do. You have to understand something. This has always been a destination of ground breaking we've even changed the NCAA rulebook with our antics in the 80's we've exemplified a swagger that COULDN'T AND WILL NEVER be replicated EVER again (even with saban's crew). That means that when it comes down to actually judging our character based upon what we've done, it's not under a microscope, it's place in from of the f****ng Hubble telescope! Just comes with the U.

The thing that ****es me off is that the actions the NCAA has taken lately shows they have jack **** on us right now, but they're gonna keep digging until they can justify hammering us. I'm remaining optimistic, but it's difficult when you know the NCAA has an agenda against us.

There are a lot of people with a lot rosier glasses than me on this board. I think they have plenty and just want to pile on. They probably also don't want another UNC where they wrap up the investigation, dole out the punishment, and then more information breaks which makes they look stupid.

To clarify, they don't have enough to justify giving us much more than we've already given ourselves.

Butch is quoted in an article from the 7th that the academic scandal at NC had been going on for 20 years. If we get more than NC its a joke.

Fine line between cooperating and being pushovers.

NCAA has gone on record about how the school is setting a benchmark for cooperation. NCAA seems to be setting a benchmark for not giving a ****.

Didn't UNC have unrelated incidents that might not of shown up in an investigation.

1. Dealings with an agent via a coach, and

2. Bull **** classes (like Musicology at FSU)

1. At this point, unless we're getting NOTHING (in terms of sanctions), please let us know after NSD but before spring football.

2. The plan (likely) is to participate fully as we have and fully commit to taking our punishment before any Notice was served [serves us right for trying to be helpful and sorry].

3. IMO the NCAA, who has taken close to two years so far, has very little that they can print or use in terms of throwing a severe penalty. Every act seems like a desperate attempt or a fishing expedition. We all know about their bull$hit letter assuming guilt or them trying to get into bankruptcy court to hear testimony. If they wanted to rape us, they should have done it by now. Now this Miami investigation is old news as the second year wraps up. Combine this with the president of the NCAA openly applauding our efforts when schools like USC and OSU did the opposite, I think we just need to remain calm. The NCAA can either give us a light spanking (no bans, 2-3 year probation, 5 scholarships reduced for 2-3 years) and applaud our efforts through the media OR they destroy their "control" over college football by shooting themselves in the foot. After that letter about implementing guilt on the players, that could have been Miami's chance to go to Federal Court and take action...but we didn't. We played it cool (hopefully our lead counsel recommended this strategy).

4. Let's not forget...to the people that wanted us to serve another ban PRIOR TO ANY NOTICE. This is why you don't do these things (not going to argue about this anymore), because you're sacrificing prior to having the actual facts. At some point the NCAA has to participate in the investigation that they claim the former players won't. We already served two bans (when there was no indication we would get two nor did anyone sacrifice two) and gave up our 2012 season and a chance at playing FSU again. We already reduced scholarships to 80/79. We have fully participated, we have been playing it patient and remaining calm (not the fans but the administration).

5. Thank God Golden is here. You may hate him, but look at what he is doing with all this bull$hit going on. My advice to the board is to quit dwelling on this investigation, there is nothing you can do about it so quit dwelling on the unknown. Focus on recruiting because the season is dead EARLY for a second straight year.

There now is legal blowback against the NCAA in the USC case. They better tread neutrally in the UM case or they are in for a world of hurt. There are things that can be done against the NCAA now .Its no longer a one way street paved by inexperienced capricious attorneys who work for the NCAA.Its clear this Molly Shipman was out of her league when she wrote this extortion letter. Experienced attorneys can shred these yokels if necessary. Just find a local judge who loves the U and go from there.
