Miami Track:

Artie Burns has the fastest Under-20 time in men’s 60m hurdles in the NCAA. Burns has posted 4 of 5 best times in the country this year.

And even better, he's not just a track guy who's afraid to get physical. He had some nice hits last year. Really hope he develops well. He got abused against Louisville, but overall he looked very promising late in the season.

I don't think playing CB is conducive to getting the most of his speed. He is better suited to range as a safety and use his speed to make INT's.

Don't sell him short. He might never play a down in the NFL and make more money than any current Cane. Kid has his eyes and abilities set on GOLD.

All of our corners are physical and hit like grown *** men. They really could save our season next year with Burns capable of being at the forefront.

He has such a great upside as a hurdler that Bershawn "Batman" Jackson, currently ranked No. 1 in the world in the 400-meter hurdles, told MaxPreps: "My personal opinion is that if he focused strictly on track and field, he would go professional right out of high school."

I'm not sure the Olympics pay as well as the NFL.
sponsorships pay well..track and field stars make a lot of money. probably potential is there to make really good money if you are an olympic medalist or world champion. maybe not more than a star in the nfl but more than NFL JAG types.

Not including Bolt, are track and field athletes really making that much money compared to NFLers?

You have to be an absolute star to make much of anything in track and field, like Usain Bolt. I found this searching the web...
- There is wide variation across each event and within the highest rankings. In aggregate though, combining all T&F events:
■Approximately 50% of our athletes who rank in the top 10 in the USA in their event make less than $15,000 annually from the sport (sponsorship, grants, prize money, etc.) and
■Approximately 20% of our athletes in top 10 in the USA in their event make more than $50,000 annually.
■Athletes outside of a top 10 USA ranking, other than some sprinters, milers, and distance runners, can expect to face very limited (if any) income support.

There's also no security, since outside of sponsorships, there are no contracts. Even with sponsorship contracts, one down or injury plagued year can easily result in a large reduction in those sponsorship contracts.

Thats kind of what I figured. Bolt gets paid because he is the fastest human on the planet. I'm not sure that a hurdler is quite as marketable.

The scary part is, he really didn't have a full track pre-season to train before he started posting those numbers. Wait guys till the end of the track season to be impressed, if you haven't yet.
