(Mostly centered on Packers selection of FSU's Terrell Buckley - also drafted FSU's Edgar Bennett (who was pretty good) and Florida's Dexter Mcnabb)

D’Onofrio is among the 12 linebackers from Penn State selected in the first three rounds since 1972. Rhodes compared him to a smaller Matt Millen, a No. 2 pick by the Raiders in 1980.

“He’s not the kind of guy that makes every play,” Wolf said. “But he is the kind of guy who sets the tempo.

“He has a linebacker attitude. I think he likes to hurt people. He’s highly intelligent and a mean, nasty son of a gun. And I like that.”

Wolf summoned D’Onofrio to Green Bay for a visit earlier in the month. D’Onofrio fell in love with the Packers and vice versa, but the mutual admiration society might have cost Wolf. Speculation that the Packers intended to draft D’Onofrio high was all over the league late last week.

“Ron said he’s as close to [Detroit’s Chris] Spielman as he’ll ever get,” said Tony Agnone, D’Onofrio’s agent. “I just knew they liked Mark from day one.”

D’Onofrio’s standing with the Packers was cemented when he ran 40 yards faster than 4.8 seconds in recent workouts and passed their medical checks after surgery in October for repeated shoulder

i found it hard to believe that D'Onofrio could ever run a 4.8
