Miami will offer scholarships to approximately 170-200 prospects every year. Each school has a BIG Board and position boards, which list prospects by their priorities. Our “CaneHunt” boards are our attempt to “guess” the Hurricanes’ recruiting priorities. These boards will change throughout the recruiting cycle. Check back often during the year to check on the boards and get the latest updates on prospects. We hope you enjoy CaneHunt ’14.

Miami's Need: 2

1. Name: Kc McDermott

Hometown/School: Palm Beach Central (West Palm Beach, FL)
Ht: 6-6 | Wt: 285 | 40:
Season Stats: NA
247Sports Composite: Rating: 98 Rank: #3 OT
Scouting Report (s): NA
Schools of Interest: (20) ND, UM, OSU
Leader(s): Too Early
Status: Offered
Chance: Too Early

UPDATES:

2/21/13: Kc McDemott is a stud OT from South Florida. Kc is the Canes’ number one target on OT board this year. His brother Shane is the current starting center for Miami. Kc is the #3 OT in the country with a 98 rating, according to the 247Sport Composite. He’s already garnered 15 offers from most of the major colleges programs.

To say he’s been well indoctrinated to the Miami program would be an understatement. He’s been on campus at least a dozen times. Some experts feel McDermott is the best right tackle in this recruiting cycle. He explodes off the ball with a fierce punch and can get to second level blocks easily.

Miami is in an excellent position with Kc McDermott. At this time, our primary competition appears to be Notre Dame, with Alabama, Florida and Ohio State in the mix.

He’s ranked the #20 OT in the nation with a 92 rating, according to the 247Sports Composite. Trevor is projected by some experts at guard at the next level but Miami is recruiting him as an OT.

Tex, I like your work but about KC his recruitment should be ending within the next couple of months. I don't think "it's too early for leaders" I think most people know it's between Miami, The U, UM, the Hurricanes, and a small chance of Notre dame. He clearly isn't interested in Ohio State as for what he told Urban Meyer when he came to his school.

Hey HurricaneGlory...

Thanks for your kind words. I agree that Kc is as close to a verbal as you can get. However, I've learned the hard way that recruiting is a long and tedious process. Too many 17-18 yr. old kids call a school their "dream school" early and by the end of the process go someplace else (Bryant, Bostwick, etc). So I try not to post leaders too early, even if they look like locks. Kc is one of those, I admit.

Thanks for your question. Keep em coming...

Ain't no 24 OT's in the nation better than Gibbons. That kid has the total package. FSU looks like an early leader unfortunately but he has been pretty quiet.

say what you will about Shannon, but give the man some credit for keeping our O line huge and stacked with quality depth.

looks like the formula is simple:

big athletic kids with no sunshine + big white boys who love fishing + some African hunters sprinkled in = quality O line

now if only we had a good coach to use the beasts properly...

Yeah and that's with guys like Washington bailing early and Henderson being injured and not realizing his full potential yet. OL recruiting has been really strong, especially since Florida isn't exactly known for mass producing great linemen.

Hey cane305...

I'm sorry but I have to call you out on this post. I'm just getting to know the poster here, but I find your stereotyping post a little ignorant and racist. Perhaps you can show me your 5 rings.

Give Randy credit for O-line? I choose to give that credit to Stoutland. You know, the guy who Saban went after and is now in the NFL?

Randy was completely incompetent. The only credit he gets is **** near killing the football program.

That O-Line class with Henderson, Linder, Feliciano, McDermott....that was a big deal. And if Randy takes all the blame, he has to get all the credit too.

File it under blind squirrell finds nut.

When you coach at The U, it's not hard to land SOME good prospects. The good coaches land a BUNCH of good prospects at DIFFERENT positions.

Gibbons is going to be a very good OT in college, I would love to get him. Very athletic, good feet and has a frame to put good weight on.

Oh, and if KC McDermott isn't the #1 OT in the nation, then they're doing something wrong.
