Article: CaneHunt ’14: RB UPDATE | Sony Michel - new leaders?

Lets be real its a UGA and UM battle and it will come down to this summer visits so right now who leads doesnt matters its about who wins in the summer that will get Sony to commit

Hey canealiday...

Sony has stated that he wants to make his commitment by the end of the summer before his senior season begins. You may be spot on.

LULZ at the silly rumors and misinformation. Does anyone have any quotes from Sony saying UGA and ND are his top two?

Hey Fran...

The update gave you four different reports on Michel's recruitment, all from credible media outlets. Take your choice. It's a long way to NSD.

Hey texcane. No where in the 247 article did Sony say he has a top 2. You are mistaken.

Hey flame...

Look up Sony's profile on 247Sports. He has change his top preferences to UGA and ND.

Tex

Tex,

Honest question: The info you are posting is a compilation from other recruiting sites, info from talking to recruits, or a combo of both?

Thanks

Hey tsimonitis...

Yes, my update is a compilation of four different reports from four different media sources. Personally, it appears Sony was really taken back on his visit to Athens. Unless something dramatic changes (and it could) I see it as a UM and UGA battle up to September. Sony also does not strike me as another Alex Collins. He truly wants to make his commitment before his senior season begins so that he can concentrate on winning a state championship for his school. That's focus; that's loyalty; that's great character. That's not a "diva."

Also, why is everything noted in CaneHunt from 247? I thought this dude was supposed to compile news, not have this be 247's RSS feed.

Hey Larry...

CaneHunt uses all the online recruiting sites plus any print/TV outlets that report on OUR prospects. If they don't cover it, CaneHunt doesn't report it.

Tex

p.s. Thanks for your readership. :-)

Joseph Yearby is the only back I care about right now. If Sony wants to commit to my Canes, then I'll start caring about him too.

Hey Tex...

I choose to believe only what the recruits say. And even then I don't believe it.

In December, he told CaneSport.com reporter Gary Fermen, "I grew up rooting for Miami, and no matter what school I go to I'll still be a Miami fan"

gotta think that when decision time comes, that has to play a BIG part!

I also heard that he's been sprung hard on his girl for a while, i know it changes with kids but there seems to be lots of things in our favor with his recruitment.

And Mike Rumph, which loves Golden, being his head coach cant hurt.

I've heard repeatedly that this dude is supposedly a huge Canes fan. His corch is a Cane. Remember Donnell Bennett and how clutch he was with Coley? What am I missing? How can anyone think he won't be a Cane if he actually loves the program like many have said, and he's got a Cane in his ear every day leading him?

Agree with you that signs point to us in the end, it may be more of a fight than we all felt it would though.

Sony is UGA, ND, MIAMI battle. He has two of his good friends (one at UGA and one at ND). And he's not a Keith or Matthew Thomas, he will commit and stick to it. We do have a couple of advantages though. Hometown advantage, Head Coach Mike Rumph, and he grew up a REAL cane fan, not just one of those "I used to watch miami all the time was younger" bull**** cane fans. When we used to play ball he loved miami!

If he's THAT much of a Canes fan, then he'll take a personal interest in returning UM to the level "when we use to play ball." As far as these players being "UM fans", I choose to take a lawyer's approach: "It's not what you say, it's what you can prove". Show me your fandom and I'll show you a LOI.

We got to get to reality not every player who grew up a fan of a school goes to that school!!!!! We hate to admit it its a business move for either their education, the football side or both where they will feel they will have the most success at **** Sony may love us way more then anybody else but its his future on the line got to make the best choice for himself

Alex Collins' situation makes me throw this factor out the window.
