Yea our D sucked, our DC is under fire, our high powered O wasn't much better, the young kids faltered on the big stage, our whole hurricane world is falling....

...anyone stop to realize that maybe Notre Dame is really good??? I kno that kind of talk is forbidden here. It's funny that other team we lost to with all the farm boys & hicks(so we joked) is also a top 8 team.

We definitely have a long way to go but let's have a lil perspective.

notre dame IS good. so is KSU. but miami shouldnt be losing by 40 points to anybody.

We got outclassed by a really good team, I think everyone is more concerned with HOW we lost. We clearly went in to a shell halfway through the first quarter after the Dorsett/Highsmith drops / roughing the punter call. If we had stayed competitive in the game for longer you wouldn't be seeing this meltdown.

I think everyone is quick to hit the panic button...we all did it after K State too. Just the nature of these message boards. Everyone forgets how they were predicting 5-7 before the season started.

Yea I feel you. The lack of competitivness is my concern too. That has nothing to do with youth or inexperience. I can remember a freshman named Clinton Ports still running hard in a blowout vs VaTech

we pretty much outplayed notre dame with our freshmen and sophmore talent, that is saying something, youngest team in college football along with the toughest schedule in college football, nough said

I believe that ND is a good but not great team. I would actually be surprised to see them in the top 10 at the end of the year. Their offense is not very good. Their defense is good but not exceptional. They generated no pass rush against us and our wrs were running free all over the field in the first half. Someone is going to expose them through the air.

All that being said, I credit ND for playing a solid, mistake free game. That is absolutely the best strategy to kick our ***. Let's remember that it took us 6 turnovers to barely defeat ncstate. ND didn't turn it over, kept the penalties to a minimum and didn't shoot themselves in the foot. Any team that does that against us is likely going to win. From here on out, if I'm an OC facing Miami, I'm going with a steady diet of runs and simple safe passes.

We're acting like we're supposed to go undefeated every year. We really all as a fan base need to sit down with other fans from Texas, Florida, FSU, USC, Ohio st. , Michigan and have group therapy. Those are programs that are MUCH MORE respected than ours and they rarely go undefeated, like they lose games too and yet they manage to survive and not call for the heads off every person on the staff from the head coach to the ball boys.

Plays were there to be made and we didn't make them, we made them look better than they are.

So let's say we hit the Dorsett pass, d comes out on fire and forces a three and out that DOESN'T get called back for a roughing, and we tack on a field goal (for the purpose of this hypothetical). Now we are up 10-0 and in a better mental place. We still might lose, but we end up in a shootout let's say. Does Notre Dame still suck?

Thye averaged 10 yards a carry **** near, they were going to rout us no matter how you spin it

The first half on offense, I was disgusted because the plays were there. We had guys in the right places, didn't make them. Second half they made adjustments so not as many plays were there, but there were still plays to be made (and subsequent missed opportunities on our side).

Reality is, we have the weapons to compete with teams like that on offense just lack the readiness. On defense, well you saw what happened.

I'd be ****ed either way, but if we'd kept it respectable I'd have been a lot happier.

If it's 13-10 ND at the half the game looks much differently. ND stumbled upon great success by just trying to run out the clock, Miami's offense was ineffective, the defense got tired and the route was on. All ND had to focus on was chewing the clock, once the offense stalled. Time of possession validates that at 40-20.

This. All of it.

Their secondary is hot garbage. Their much ballyhooed front seven didn't cause any real problems until later in the game when it was clear our guys had clocked out.

if we score first and then don't rough the punter. It's a different ball game. In truth, talent wise we were ready, but we weren't mature enough to handle that big of a game yet.

Agreed. The biggest difference in the game is that we shot ourselves in the foot over and over again, while Notre Dame played mistake-free football. This team simply isn't mature or experienced enough to not go into a funk when something bad happens on the road. We saw it against K-State, we saw it against GT (until they finally found their mojo again), and we saw it against Notre Dame. We need more mental toughness... and hopefully that will come with experience.

notre dame IS good. so is KSU. but miami shouldnt be losing by 40 points to anybody.

This is the attitude that has beleaguered out entire organization for the better part of a decade now.

Everyone has these platitudes for Miami.

"We are suppose to press"

"where's the swagger"

"We're always the fastest team on the field"

"Miami doesn't play 2-gap"

All of this is BS and probably the reason why we have sucked so long. What happened in 1987 don't mean jack squat. What made us successful in '01 means absolutely nothing. When you remove these platitudes and focus on us getting better as a program, it's easier for you to accept these losses.

WE HAVEN'T WON 10 GAMES IN SEVEN YEARS. Yes...Miami is the place where we don't perform on the biggest stage. Miami IS the place where we get run on for 300 yards. Miami IS the place that can't stop a nosebleed. Miami IS the place where we aren't strong enough to compete at the top levels of college football.

We are suffering through an identity crisis as much as anything right now. We aren't the team that took the field from 2000-2005. We are the same team that has taken the field from 2006-2011. Undisciplined, inexperienced, and without talent. If y'all want to ***** and moan all year because we aren't the '90 Miami Hurricanes, join Dan Sileo on his show and spend time with the idiots that call in to his show. We AREN'T there. HAVENT BEEN there and for the rest of this year won't BE there. The sooner people recognize that, the better they will feel.

It's not about accepting mediocrity. It's about dealing with reality.

What you are not understanding is that we will accept a mediocre defense right now. Just not 118.

Which TD on the opening drive is Dorsett catching because he dropped two. Maybe Hurns remembers how to catch or Cleveland or Scott or Waters. ******* drops all over the place. Davon Johnson was the only catching the **** ball.

Our young team will make a bunch of mistakes but giving the other team a second chance is what really kills us. That BS punt penalty because if we get a 3 and out, praise big baby jesus. That is a huge win.

After that penalty, the game was pretty much over (Even though we were down 10 at halftime) because we couldn't do ****.
