Besides the beggining, I don't remember him getting picked on at all.

Made some nice aggressive tackles.

And he definitely isn't as small as I thought.

He's going to struggle playing in such a loose zone. Might as well expect it now. Not even going to get into the specifics now, but some of our defenders truly have no idea what they're doing playing zone. BC didn't even do a great job of flooding areas and they still had guys running completely free.

This. These So Fla DBs were BORN to play press coverage. We're trying to install some Penn St 1986 BS defense.
F'in joke.

Yea put me in the camp of wanting to see our young dbs play man already. This weak *** zone didn't work last season and it allowed Chase Rettig to look like Tom Brady today. Of course our dline needs to help as well but still.

Then we go to man, and TEs and RBs are running free.

We just need to get better.

agreed that we need to play man, but this was our first game for a lot of our D players so we played it conservatively. as they gain more confidence they will install different coverages. this is not like last year where they were so weak at corner that they could only play zone. it was not all perfect, but we progressed within the game. let's take it and they will improve next week if not against bethune, a game where they can take some risks.

D'onofrio was running the soft zone D at Temple too. His last year, Temple had some early round picks and other NFL guys on that D so talent wasn't an issue against most of their comp. I don't think our scheme will change much with D'onofrio, we'll just get more talent and experience

Talked to his mom after the game. She was sitting with Malcolm Lewis and Duke's parents. Pretty lady.

That's the best insight you got from a trip all the way to Boston? At least tell me there was a flying sandal or something.

I'm not much of an X and Os guy but wasnt he playing the pretty much by himself on the open side of the field all day? As a field corner?

Hard to play man with our pass rush.

You could easily make the argument that by playing soft zone the QB gets rid of the ball VERY quickly giving the DL no chance to penetrate.

We HAVE to play more man and disrupt routes and jam WRs and bump TEs.... simply have to.
Keep the 2 safeties over the top Shannon style if you're so terrified of "the big play."
