Any thoughts about DL transfers (either now or for 2019)?

There's no question we have a good shot at getting back to the ACCCG and an outside shot at the playoffs this year. But IMHO, 2019 is where the team finally starts looking like a championship team. QB, RB, WR, OL, LB will be stacked 2/3-deep with veteran top ACC guys. We'll be young at TE and DB, but although it's a concern, we should have enough talent to cover.

My main concern is DL. We have 6 proven or high ceiling guys returning for 4 starting spots in Garvin, Patchan, Rousseau, Ford, Bethel, and Silvera. Martin and Miller are projects, especially Martin. Even if we get commitments from 4 to 6 high school seniors, do we really expect them to go up against Bama OL? Does everyone expect we go hard after a couple transfers, and if yes, are any 2019 names emerging (or for that matter, 2018 names with 2 years of eligibility)?

IMO we will need to look at the juco and transfer markets this cycle. We cannot go into ‘19 with no experienced or mature depth. One injury and we’ll be toast. Not the way to compete for a playoff spot.

Unfortunately DT is the one position we haven't had success and if Miller is the surprise I think he'll be, we'll be ok, but we need at bare minimum 3 DT's for 2019. Things look good for Brown, Daxon and Ingraham, but we need Sorrells, Tyler ? and or Hunter. Unlikely we all but if I gave prediction of the uncommitted it'll be Ingraham first, Hunter, Sorrells and Tyler Davis.

Here is our roster depth at DL for ‘19, assuming Jackson goes pro but no one else leaves, and before frosh/transfers:

DE: Garvin (jr), Patchan (sr), Rousseau (so)
DT: Ford (jr), silvera (so), bethel (jr), miller (so), martin (jr)

Much as both spots are cringes, DE is scary. One injury and we’re holding our you know what.

And while we are recruiting some good prospects, true frosh DEs is not a recipe for beating Clemson. And we need enough guys to rotate, enough guys to practice.

We are going to need some luck and a couple transfers.

I feel like Tyler Davis is a kid that could come in and give us good minutes at DT as a true Freshman. As for DE, although Bogle is a really good prospect he is like 200 lbs currently so unless he puts on a bunch of weight in the next 18 months he wont be a viable option to give good minutes his Freshman year IMO. I agree, our lack of depth across the whole DL is concerning. Although Kool was a good developer he really f***ked us when it comes to recruiting/depth.

Guys like Ingraham and JJ Weaver might be great options for the '19 class. They are guys that could immediately help at DE, where the need is more acute, but later move inside to DT. I'd love to get Bogle, but you're right, he's probably not going to be big enough to play a lot his FR year.

We're going to need a couple DEs that can come in and contribute right away.

DT actually doesnt look too bad. definitely need some help at DE

i wonder if mccloud ends up getting a look at DE?
