**** he must not be that good in the 40 he only ran a 4.51 at 165 pounds and is said to run a 10.24 in the 100m. Lingard ran a 4.53 at 183 pounds last year at the opening testing. It just don't add up because In his film and a track video he posted the other day he looks fast AF...

Those Opening numbers are all over the place from venue to venue. At one Opening it seemed like everyone's time was really slow. Did he run the 4.51 at the same event that Ambassador Lingard ran the 4.53?
Question for the track guys: is Schwartz a threat to go to the Olympics and quit football?
It all depends how he develops. If he peaks at 10.26, then he is not close to qualifying for the Olympic team. If, on the other hand, he improves like Trayvon Brommell did throughout HS and college, then he might look in that direction.
I am too lazy to look up Brommell's times throughout HS, but he got better every year.
Making the Olympic team is difficult. Top sprinters like Harry Adams (he ran a 9.98 at Auburn) haven't always made the Olympic team.
Only prep time I can find that Demps ran is a 10.01. But that was in 2008, when he was 18 and a HS senior.10.26 as f'n sophmore holy ****. For reference Jeff Demps ran 10.1 and eventually ended up an olympic gold medalist in the relay
But did he run 10.1 as a sophomore in HS?
i think it was hos soph college time
I think he ran that time as a 12th grader. Schwartz ***** on Demps as a ballplayer also...
Eh not impressed. Speed is totally overrated in college football. This aint the pros.
Just like in college basketball, where a group of slow white kids can deal major damage, i think college football is more about football ability than raw speed.
I'd take this kid Schwartz only if we miss out on all our other top targets: Pope, Wiggins, Williams, Hightower, Thompson, Copeland, Josh Moore, Elijah Moore, and Austin.
I've wanted to say this, but really didn't feel like arguing over it lolHaha, I feel like we got a lot of Al Davis disciples on this board. If it were up to some of you, there'd be about 20 guys on the roster who were 5'9" or so and about 150lbs but could run sub 4.45.
I need to see way more of his kid before I make an opinion. All his highlights show was straight line speed. No catches over the middle, he only ran 2 routes, didn't show any elusiveness or wiggle and didn't show any vision. I'm not saying he doesn't have those attributes, I'm just saying his highlight type didn't show anything one way or the other.
He also only had one kick return, and all he did was sprint around the edge and then he got caught. Somebody already mentioned it, but Dorset was fast as **** and he sucked at returning the ball because he lacked the elusiveness and juke that someone like Hester and Moss had. Not enough tape to determine where he fits between those guys.
As far as bringing him in as an athlete, what other position would he play besides WR? Dude looks like he weighs 150lbs with a frame that says he still buys his jeans in the boy section. So he won't be a safety or a running back, which leaves CB. Once again, there wasn't anything in his film that showed he did or didn't have the hips and feet to play corner. DVD was fast as **** but he didn't look like it too many times in coverage.
It's a crazy year for WR in Florida. There are a legitimate 10 elite options at WR Miami is after. If the staff wants him, I'll trust their opinion because they'll have seen more of him and have a better idea of his physical capabilities. I'll be curious to see everyone's opinion after some of you see him in camps this summer. Paradise camp should be more exciting and even more competitive than last year.
I get that everyone is on this "Need for Speed" edict, but I think it's legitimately become overstated on this board.
With this 2017 class of Thomas, Harley & Deejay in combination with Ahmmon & Mullins, I think we have plenty of Speed at WR. Plus Pope is as fast as they come.
As far as Schwartz is concerned I like him, have no issue with him & would take, but there's other WR's I would take ahead of him & if we're only taking 4 then there's 6 other prospects I would take before him.
Word. Too much focus on 40 times, which ignores what makes a guy elite. You need reasonable speed but elusiveness, vision, agility, power to break arm tackles, none of these is measured with a stopwatch.
Lol at folks talking about speed is overrated for a kid that runs a 10.2/10.3 as a 10th grader. I'll take that speed any day of the week. And let's be honest - the kid while not an elite 5 star kid is a nice player. As long as he puts in the work, I'm all in. There are tons of ways to use that speed - specific plays on offense, special teams, coverage unit safety valve, etc.
Anybody look at his film? It's not outrageous. He is not the caliber of a Mike Harley or Jeff Thomas, yet. I think you need to let him play out his senior year. What kind of offers does this kid have?
Here is how Swartz's 10.12 would have done in the final round of the 2016 USA qualifying round for the Olympics. Please keep in mind he just finished his Junior year in high school, and that if he continues to work hard that he will get stronger and faster.
