And I guess we conceded the game when we sat Cam but since we essentially just ran the ball every down until we couldn't so might as well have kept him in? And I guess they sat George too? It's like on these bowl games there's either one hand tied behind our back or we tie it ourselves.
I don't know, I kind of get it but if we're sitting a healthy Cam for a whole half why not just tell him to move on and play Emory? Still almost won in spite of it all.
Oh man this defense. What's to say? I'm assuming we'll get a new DC and I have to imagine you're going to see at least 5 or 6 new starters next year from the portal. Maybe more. Dyoni Hill made me miss Jadais Richard. Time to seek football at a lower level young man. Best of luck. By the same token you'll notice they threw at OJ once early on and then never again. So we have 1 corner coming back. That's a start. Need another safety too. Need a LB or 2. One Edge at least. Probably another DT.
Anyway I've been a resident sunshine pumper for a long time but I'm done with the expectations game. I'll enjoy when we win and be sad when we lose and be on these boards way too much for news and updates but I'm done playing "this is the year maybe."
Hey maybe one day we will be an actual contender. But I'm not counting on it. No expectations so no heartbreak right? And no, wheel of coach won't solve it. Few will agree but staying the course with Mario is the best bet. He does bring in talent. And watching corches like Day and Sarkisian make it this far is proof that it's a lot more about stockpiling talent. **** it was enough to put Larry Coker in the record books.
It would have been nice to actually win this one but we would have needed a full deck and we didn't even come in with one.
Oh and we can stop the debates and freak outs about whether Emory is going to be the starter next year. There was about zero chance of that before the game and there's even less now. They don't even trust him enough to run the offense in a fairly meaningless bowl game so they're not handing him the keys in 2025.
