I'm wondering how this will play out down the road. These sponsors pay big money for these bowl games, but in the current landscape, if you're not in the CFP, you're likely going to be missing a chunk of your team which got you there in the first place.Imagine similar timeline in the NFL where the Draft, free-agent signing and hiring/firing of coaches from teams currently playing in the postseason were in play during December and January.
What a shtfest.
I love college ball over NFL all day, so I grew up watching the bowl games.
But under this current landscape, I don't blame teams for dipping on bowl if the
players and coaches are moving on before the game.

This is the part I miss about the old days. Bowl games have become meaningless corporate exhibitions that players don’t want to participate.Imagine similar timeline in the NFL where the Draft, free-agent signing and hiring/firing of coaches from teams currently playing in the postseason were in play during December and January.

it also doesn't help that there are more people on the sidelines than in the stands at most of these games. This is the part I miss about the old days. Bowl games have become meaningless corporate exhibitions that players don’t want to participate.
In the past they used to be fun. Sure you might not be competing for the national championship, but it was a chance to see new matchups.

College football is turning into a real s**t show. Unfortunate for the fans.Imagine similar timeline in the NFL where the Draft, free-agent signing and hiring/firing of coaches from teams currently playing in the postseason were in play during December and January.

bc the calendar falls into next semester and it could be too late for students to get everything in order to transfer by enrollment deadlinesWe football addicts love to watch our teams play...
Anywhere, anytime, and any opponents, but these opt out no plays before bowl games are unreal.
Why not make all teams have to play and represent until the final CFP game is ended with the Bowl games ending also...then open the portal ?.
Skip the bowl game and it would affect the final NIL payment.....
Respect Cam.......... for finishing with his U brothers in a game............ where they can for the last time feel that team unity and spirit they played with all year........that means something to us fans......
oh but more posts about NIL killing the sport lol. we just lifted the veil.I hate the whole notion of opting out of games, can't really say I blame the players on this one. For the most part, the whole coaching staff is gone. Why couldn't the coaches wait to leave until after the bowl game? ****, they opted out! Just saying - two way street.
half the people are proposing illegal NIL payments without even realizing it.Lot of people *****ing with no solution..............
