For comparison’s sake, our 2012 defense that finished 116th overall in total defense allowed 31.8 ppg against ACC opponents.
Just a truly disgusting performance. We just needed the defense to be average, and they were historically awful.
That sums up the last 20 years of Miami football. The worst case scenario always seems to happen.
This falls squarely on Mario because we have a G5-level back 7 in year three.
Completely unacceptable.
I’m sure Guidry will be gone, if for no other reason than perception on the recruiting trail. That’s the one thing Mario truly understands/cares about.
His best bet is probably a wunderkind up-and-comer that nobody’s ever heard of like when Jim Harbaugh hired Mike McDonald at Michigan.
But hard to expect a guy like that to rebuild an entire staff.
He’s gonna have to find a proven guy who can assemble a staff and recruit.
If he botches the 3rd DC hire, he probably won’t get a 4th.
